Unnerved by the armored skeleton, Zipper retrieves the large stone he and Mensa left by the door, then slams the stone down at the skeleton’s skull, hoping to ensure the thing remains inanimate. He’ll then reach in and pry the sword and scabbard from the bony fingers. Mensa: (in dwarfish) "Good idea." (offers quick prayer to Gristlegrim that dead stay dead.)

Zipper reaches into the sarchophogus and peels away the finger-bones to retrieve the jeweled dagger.
As he stands back to examine his prize, Zipper is shocked to see the dagger flash away out of his hands and fly in circles about the room. As the thief recovers from his start, he sees the dagger freeze in midair, turn to face him, and come hurtling through the air towards him. The dagger flies around Zipper slashing angrily at him from all sides.
The referee pauses before rolling initiative for the players to declare their actions.

(Mensa tackles Zipper to the floor, covering him with Mensa, hoping that the combination of shovel, tasteless but spooky sword, and Man-Pack (TM) will provide some protection.) Mensa: (angry, shouting in whatever part of Zipper ended up by Mensa's face) NEXT TIME, AWLAYS CRUSH SKELETUMM FIRST!!)

Gory Flory drops the mace and attempts to swat the dagger out of the air with the shield. If she can pin it to the floor and they can get control of it. They will crack open the door where the shaggy men went and exile the dagger to that corridor.
Yuglit takes hit shield in both hands and if Gory Flory can swat the dagger he will try to swat it again. They will make severals attempts to swat the dagger and control it.
ZU-ZU!! will continue to watch the doors.

Zipper prepares to slash back at the dagger with his own . . .
Zipper pats Mensa on the shoulder, or whatever that is, with his free hand.

The referee rolls initiative: party 4, dagger 3
Mensa tries to throw himself over Zipper, Zipper tries to knock the dagger out of the air with his own blade, Gory Flory swings at the dagger. As Mensa is far stronger than the thief, the referee gives him a 5/6 chance of doing so if Mensa makes a successful hit on Zipper. If Mensa can grab him zipper will have a -4 to hit but the dagger might strike Mensa instead of Zipper. Mensa rolls 1d20=4, and Zipper is able to squirm past the dwarfs tackle. Zipper swings at the dagger: 1d20 =7, a miss. Flory tries to knock the dagger to the ground (1d20=7): swing and-a miss.
The dagger swoops at Zipper. The referee notes that the thief was previously punched in the face (hard) by a pirate, and is still woozy, sitting at just 2 hp. attack roll for the dagger: 1d20=6. The dagger swoops by and circles around for another strike.
The referee pauses for further instructions.

Zipper scrambles and dives behind a sarcophagus, hoping to buy enough time to retrieve the large sack from his back pack (right now the sack only has the coronet in it; Zipper will let the coronet fall to be loose in the back pack as he pulls the sack out).
He hopes Yulgit will make himself useful and take a whack at this dancing dagger with his spear.

Gory Flory and Yuglit both try to swat the dagger out of the air whoever is closer going first and each is ready so if the other succeeds they will pounce and try to pin the dagger to the floor if that opportunity presents itself.
ZU-ZU!! stays out of the way (and away from the dagger) and continues to watch the doors.

The referee rolls up a scenario in which Zipper meets an untimely end, only to realize that he once again forgot to resolve melee in order of dexterity! The referee resolves combat a second time... will things go better any for the company?
The referee rolls a dexterity for the flying dagger: 3d6=15! a suitable score for the dancing dirk. Zipper will go first this round followed by the dagger, and then all others.
Zipper dives for cover behind a sarcophagus, and pulls out his sack. The dagger swoops through the air at his tail; The thief is behind cover, but also immobile and preoccupied with his belongings, so the referee gives the dagger an unmodified chance to hit. 1d20=18! D 1d6=6! The dagger strikes true, and Zipper collapses with a gruesome cry, clutching at the blade in his chest. The company follows after, ready to strike, only to find the dagger has become totally immobile and lifeless in the thief's breast. The jeweled pommel glints temptingly, protruding from the Zipper's chest.

"ZU-ZU!! is right I think we should leave the dagger alone."
OOC: Are there any empty sarcophagi that are close enough to one with the lid still one that we might be able to slide it over and cover Zipper in a closed sarcophagus?
"Let's empty his stuff out of his pockets and take every thing that aside from the dagger and his clothes. Does anyone know if he has family? We should get his belongings and his share of things back to them if we can."
"Let's put him into an empty sarcophagus and slide a lid over it if that is possible and hold a funeral for him. It wouldn't be safe for anyone to take him back to town with that dagger still stuck in his chest."
"Then I move that we go ahead and clear the remaining sarcophagi and then get out of here. Remember we have the shaggy men and the last of the pirates to lookout for and we are a man down."
"What say ye all?"

Exploration Turn 15
The sarchophogus lids are far too heavy to lift back up into place, even with a crew of strong men. However, the sarcophaguses are closely spaced enough that it might be possible to slide the lid from one stone box to the next, provided you pivoted the lid first the long way and then pivoted it back rightways again once it was ontop of the next sarchophogus.
The room is large. The walls in shadow, with only the center illuminated by torchlight. The walls are old and crumbling here. The floors are filled with the debris and detritus. The vaulted ceiling rises up 20 or 30 feet overhead. There are doors along each wall. Three opened stone sarchophogi and three closed ones sit in the room. Behind one is a dead thief with a jeweled dagger in his chest.
The referee rolls for wander monsters (1d6=?), but nothing seems to appear for now.

"OK, Mensa, no one left behind. Lets go ahead and quickly search these other three sarcophagi and see if there is anything of value and then let's get out of here for now. Does anyone know Zipper's family?
Yuglit, why don't you and Mensa go ahead and open the next one."
Hmm what are we going to do about that dagger!
