With the path splitting are we able to still do both? I suggest starting with 6 Sounds good. We will take extra care entering 6 since it seems to have life inside it.

Yeah, you are sort of forced to do one or the other today. Remember #6 was one where sleeping predators were detected by Lui

Then we'll definitely approach carefully.
Corrigan first, and ready to draw sword or cutlass, as seems appropriate. (Or even to run away!)

I think we have Corrigan, followed shortly behind by Lady Marie with a torch, then Marci with a scanner, and Abigail following up in the rear?

I am going to roll for surprise (1d6 each, 3+ differential = surprise). These are camouflaged pouncers, you may just not see them in time. Or, you know they are there, so you may get the jump. They get +1 for being pouncers. I will give you +1 military, +1 hunting skill, +1 you know they are there for a +3.
pouncers(s): 1+1=2 party: 2+3=5
The party has surprise!
This cave is long, tall, and maybe 10 feet wide. On ledges around the area, Corrigan sees four of these dangerous aninals, sleeping.

Corrigan gestures for silence, then holds up 4 fingers. He motions for others to come up so we can all fire at once.
He doesn't take his eyes or ears off the pouncers, though.

I move up and line up a shot at the one furthest from us once we are all set

Lady Marie will also line up a shot.

How do you know who is targeting which? I assume you will assign with hand gestures?

How do you know who is targeting which? I assume you will assign with hand gestures? Yea, we will try hand gestures. We'll probably not be perfect and one critter will not get shot...

A) What are we all armed with? and
B) How close together are they?
The reason I ask is that Corrigan has a shotgun. And I recall a rule about Group Hits with Shotgun...
I want to get as many of them in the blast as I can.

Ah, well, next time... Frank

One ledge has two of them on it - shotgun would hit both. There are two ledges on other side of cave which are sperate

Okay, I'll take the two together. You guys each pick one and we'll all fire.

If they motion for Marci to join them with the shotgun she will and will target as directed, otherwise will she will stay out of the way.

The plan is - Corrigan blasts one side with a shotgun, Marci the other - Abigail and Marie will shoot at what remains
What is Marie armed with?

The shotguns erupt with thunderous discharge, splattering the reptilian things against the cave walls. One is still feebly moving, but is shot in the head by both Abigail and Marie, stilling it for good.
MECHANCIS Corrigan, Shotgun DM +0, Dex DM +1, Range DM +1, Armor DM +5, total DM +7 Corrigan rolls <2D> = 4 +7 = 11 HIT on first target Corrigan does <4D>=7, wounding but not killing it Corrigan rolls <2D> = 4 +7 = 11 HIT on second target Corrigan does <4D>=14, splattering it against the wall
Marci, Shotgun DM +1, Dex DM +0, Range DM +1, Armor DM +5, total DM +7 Marci rolls <2D> = 6 +7 = 13 HIT on first target Marci does <4D> = 14, blasting its head to pieces Marci rolls <2D> = 6 +7 = 13 HIT on second target Marci does <4D> = 18, pulping it
Abigail, LCarb DM +1, Dex DM +2, Range DM +1, Armor DM +2, total DM +6 Abigail rolls <2D> = 5 +6 = 11 HIT Abigail does <4D>=10 damage, finishing it off
Marie, Auto-Pistol DM +0, Dex DM +0, Range DM +2, Armor DM +1, total DM +3 Marie rolls <2D> = 5 +3 = 8 HIT Marie does <2D> = 7 damage, just because

"And that is why you don't want anybody to sneak up on you," Corrigan says, making sure the cave is clear before waving the rest of the party in.

Paydirt? Nice!
Wouldn't it be useful if these creatures always accompanied the stuff we're after? We could just home in on them and find what we're looking for more easily.

It looks like you have found a xenotime vein of gigantic size near the back of the cave, radiating Yttrium and amost all the other lanthanides, including dysprosium. Depending how far down it goes, it could provide enough matter for nuclear power and laser weaponry and high-tech sensors for over 100 years, if it was able to be mined

Are able to determine how far it goes and if it can be mined? DM invents pseudo-scientific gobbledygook to justify the explanationThis could definitely be mined and extracted. The knowledge you have from studying and computer resources is this should go down a long way, maybe all the way to the mantle. It is quite a big job to set up, needing specialized equipment brought in. Feel free to google dysprosium

Is there any way of keeping such an operation low profile? We don't want to supervise mining and fight a war at the same time...

That is a good question, coffee. There is a space port at the south pole, otherwise the planet is almost uninhabited. I would think increased space traffic, that does not dock at the spaceport, would eventually be noticed and investigated
