Charlie moves up the ladder easily and joins Peng as they look down and across at the stacks of large cargo containers that just about fill the entire hold. They can see the pair of Aslan prowling along between the stacks of containers below. Peng grinds out under his breath: "Just f**kin' MARvelous."Glancing back at Charlie, he shrugs and says, "Well, we're not getting any younger."With pretend nonchalance, Peng steps off the ladder onto the mesh walkway and begins a cautious advance. Charlie grinned and carefully followed him. He tried to use her peripheral vision as much as he could. If there was movement, that would be where he spotted it, most likely. Charlie

Charlie Peng and Charile move slowly and carefully search as they go. They make an entire pass through the cargo hold once and don't find anything out of order. If there had been dust on the walkways that might have shown footprints, or something, but there is no dust. If there were cameras in the cargo hold they might have picked up something, but there aren't any cameras. It is looking more and more like there isn't anything(one) in here other than the searchers. Down on the cargo deck, Tol and Tak make another pass. More using their noses this time than their eyes. Yes, there certainly is a pong that isn't human or Aslan in here and it seem to be fresh. It isn't everywhere, it seems to be mostly along a corridor leading toward a ladder going up the port bulkhead. They can't be sure, but something either went up...or down...recently. Could it have *exited* the ship rather than entering it?

These are built into the bulkheads on the port and starboard sides just aft of where the example cargo containers show up on the deck plans. These ladders only connect the floor of the cargo hold to the metal mesh walkways. They could provide access to the upper deck through the center line hatches, but if anyone went through those hatches it would have shown up in the security system sensors and on the Bridge's controls. Nothing has shown up on those sensors. If someone/thing was/is in here it was/is only in the hold.

He climbs the ladder and looks for a way to climb up enough to see over the container tops.

Peng takes rear guard going back to the ladder down, so when Charlie bows up and stops to look down/back, Peng also automatically glances downward . . . then jerks his attention back up to those scant but looonngg voids along the stack tops to either side.
[ Internal Thought ]This would be the perfect time to jump us . . .[ /Internal Thought ]
Without taking his eyes off those threatening bands of darkness to either side, over his shoulder Peng asks Charlie:
"Whatcha got?"

Peng steps up and bends to check both locations, careful not to touch the substance but sniffing at the railing sample as closely as he dares.
[ Internal Thought ] I ain't no Aslan or Vargr, but then I don't smoke nor snort, either. Can't hurt to try. [ /Internal Thought]
Standing back up, Peng nods and says, "Yep. Seems like blood to me."
Keying his comm, Peng relays their discovery to the rest of the crew.

Tokheletoi sniffs the air and confirms what Takheal stated about the movement on the ladder. She moved carefully and warily checking containers and covering her partner in case they were suddenly attacked. "Let me check the cargo manifest for this container." As Takheal examined the lock she tapped into her hand comp to pull up the manifest and listing of what was in that container. "We should be wary. Possibly this is a plant or trap or even a bomb although why anyone would go to such trouble for us."
OOC: Do we have access to open the locks on the containers?

OOC: Tokheletoi and Takheal are now near Peng and Charile. The "sticky substance" is just a few feet from the scratched lock. The four of you can work as a team of four now. IG: Tokheletoi brings up the cargo manifest. The cargo container in question contains a 10 dton module destined for one of the worlds further up the main from ShiraLea. The module contains living quarters, complete with power, food, water and an air supply that with internal recycling can last almost indefinitely. The living quarters module has about 500 square feet of living space, so more than enough for a 1 or 2 person staff. This module and a "trade module", of about the same size, containing trade goods and 3-d printing capability is destined to be a founding trade post for one of the Delgado Trading people you have aboard. You can open the lock on the container with a master key, but only Raven, Blackjack and Madame Cho (the Chief Factor for the Delgado group) have those keys. The modules themselves can be locked independently, but they probably weren't locked when they were stored in the containers.
