Gil says over the rapidly declining wind, "Winds dying down almost as fast as it came up. I think we can get across the field now."
"You ready?"

OOG: And extremely attractive noses at that... at least for the females... OOG: That made me laugh! Thanks for that!IG: Both Tak and Tol pick up a strange smell. They've been smelling it since they entered the cargo bay. It's an animal, but not one they are familiar with. Tokheletoi believes there is a touch of fear in the smell, but isn't sure not knowing the animal. It is certain, *something* has been in the cargo hold that wasn't here before the ship landed on Shiralea...recently. "What is that?" Takheal growls softly and keeps looking.

"You ready?"[Internal Thought] My, he's a right chatty feller now, ain't he?[/Internal Thought] In response Peng gives a wordless nod and draws his heavy revolver. Rising from his crouch, he sprints at his best speed across the tarmac. [OOC: Assuming Peng and Gil make it across without incident . . .] Arriving at the hatch, Peng whacks the call button with his pistol butt and calls: "Peng and Gill here! Someone wanna let us in?!"[OOC: Unless overruled by our GM, I'm going with Peng being armed with his heavy revolver (worn openly in a shoulder rig), blade (worn in it's hidden mid-back sheath) and body pistol (worn in it's hidden ankle holster). The revolver's cylinder holds five soft-nosed slug rounds - they're BIG bullets! - and he's carrying two speedloaders full of the same rounds, one in each of his shipsuit front pockets; the underbarrel grenade launcher - see quote from character thread with pic below! - is loaded with a tear gas round and an extra round of the same type is in his left rear pocket. An extra clip for the body pistol is in his right back pocket.] Can this be Peng's revolver? [454 magnum with underbarrel 30mm grenade launcher] [ OOC: Don't you just love the scrollwork golden flower on the barrel? ] [Oh, yes! And this . . . And maybe this for his Blade . . .

Slipping inside as soon as the hatch opens sufficiently, Peng is careful to keep his weapon pointed up and away from Charlie.
Carefully looking around the compartment, he asks his fellow crewperson: "Anythin' new yet?"

Tokheletoi pauses for a moment sniffing the air. She turns to Takheal and whispers softly for his ears only. "An animal of some kind, new to me. There is fear in it. We have a passenger for sure. If we advance we may provoke it. Perhaps we can set out food and water and see if it will come out."

While it isn't an order, he stops in place. "It took a flashlight, so it must be more than a simple animal. If that is true, then it could be up to mischief."

Not sure how many doors are between these spaces in the Clear Sails, though. My usual interior layout of this ship type makes the area just inside the outer door - up to the outer edge of the entrance into the low berth compartment - an airlock, with a pressure door opening into the rest of the ship.] Peng nods at this information and moves further inside. [OOC: Assuming that the layout/state of connecting door allows it . . . UPDATE: The below having been edited in response to the layout explained below] [Climbing up a couple of ladder rungs such that his head emerges into the upper level, Ping takes a quick look around, then glancing back down at Charlie,] asks: "Has this room been checked yet? I mean, what if there's more than one of them?"

As Charlie comes up the ladder behind him, Peng tries to keep from focusing too much on any one axis of potential threat.
As he begins to a methodical grid search - or at least as much of a grid search as the interior layout allows - Peng asks Charlie: "Do you have a breather mask on you? My little toy here . . ."
At this point, Peng taps the pistol's underbarrel grenade launcher, then continues.
". . . has a tear gas can in the pipe. Got a'nuhthern in my pocket."

Cyril is working at a table in the aft lounge. His mother is lightyears away, so, under the circumstances, he decides to ignore her rule about loaded guns in the house. His shotgun is loaded with shot for small game. If Peng and Charlie came through the aft hatch, he speaks up.
"You two are the only ones through that hatch in the last half hour. Blackjack and Raven are forward somewhere. Doc is on the bridge."
If they came through the front hatch, he picks up his shotgun and goes to investigate, letting everyone know about it over comms.

Have you checked the cargo containers? Some of them are made to be lived in, and creatures that can use a flashlight can probably manage a lock.

His shotgun is loaded with shot for small game. [OOG: I have no idea which hatch our PC's actually came through. But while landed on a planet with breathable atmo, it strikes me that the crew probably uses the forward hatches/airlocks by default, as those are closer to the bridge/staterooms.] If they came through the front hatch, he picks up his shotgun and goes to investigate, letting everyone know about it over comms. Nodding politely to Doc as he leads the way into the forward lounge, Peng touches 'Push To Talk' and answers Cyril's notification of movement with: "Don't shoot us, pard. It's Peng and Charlie, coming up to check this deck. Gil's watching the door now."

[OOG: I'm not sure if an 'emergency air helm' is actually a "real" thing in this game . . .] OOG: If Peng is wearing an air/tight vacc suit (and we'll say he is) then he does have a helm he can pull over his head and down over his face. This will give him a 10 minute air supply for emergencies. He'll need to connect to an air bottle after that and he isn't wearing that. However, he is still wearing his filter mask! The atmosphere here on Shirlea is filled with particles to which non-locals are quite allergic. All of you have filter masks either over your faces or hanging around your necks.

OOC: Yes it is and the search is in the AFT Cargo Section. They came in through the Aft Cargo Doors. In case, it's unclear the rectangles in the cargo hold are *examples* of the large cargo containers. In reality, they just about fill the entire cargo hold.

Inside the cargo hold there are movable walkways made from metal mesh that can be extended and retracted to give access (and support) to upper levels of cargo. Because your Patron, Delgado Trading, has so many of these large containers stacked up throughout the hold there are walkways all over the place up here to make sure the containers stay put...and to allow access to them if need be.
