(OK, who was in charge of bullying The Mighty Darci? Whoever it was - you had one job, and you failed. However will we live with the shame of Being Fair-minded and Disagreeing Without Hating?) This is one of the huge reasons why I love Murkhill, mormonyoyoman humor.

Rip, I don't understand - I don't think I'm capable of understanding people who have gleefully embraced evil. Maybe it's the end result of paranoia. Seems to me that Isaiah fella knew what he was saying when he prophesied "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!" (Isaiah 5:20-23) I wouldn't go so far as to call it evil. It is just bizarre behaviour. If you look at the comment sections in news articles, it is absolutely shocking the amount of hate and vinegar that one finds there. Most of those folks are normal people. The question is, why do they say the things that they do? Many believe that they are anonymous, and there is a theory which considers the strict rules and courtesies which modern people must apply to their real lives. Americans are very uptight individuals, we like to laugh at the Victorians for their advanced social structures but we may have them beat when it comes to repressing our personalities and masking our emotions. Is this "Mr Hyde" character which appears in comment sections a form of role-playing which expresses our personal contempt for our own culture?

I spent several months lurking and checking out forums before I joined here. I joined here because this looked like the only female friendly forum around. The reason I came to that conclusion is because it was the only guy friendly forum around where there was not constant bullying going on. Since you guys were not getting bullied I figured it would work for me and it has. Most forums not only tolerate an excessive amount of bullying behavior, in most cases one or more moderators are part of the problem. On one forum in particular almost all of the active posters are examples of the worst of schoolyard bullies, and why they still get new members is baffling to say the least. So this is the place I hang out when I have time. I would not stick around anyplace where I was mistreated. I would recommend everyone adopt that policy. This is a main reason why I rarely post in DF anymore, I saw horrible treatment of other members & the mods didn't seem to do squat. I saw a member here get banned on another forum, after people piled on him and he said what he believed in a untactful way. I haven't been on that forum again and I haven't followed that forums admin's blog or watched his videos as he turned out to be a hypocrite. The Admin Pete is one of the nicest people I've met on any forum, and he has worked hard to keep the peace here. He even asked me, Jakob Grimm & True Black Raven to stop bringing up odd74 and our unjust banning as he (TPD) didn't want Murkhill to be unwelcoming to members of that forum and they couldn't defend themselves. We complied with TPD's wishes, but when you go after people like mormonyoyoman , who is a wonderful person I don't give a shite if I offend members of odd74 here. What is happening is unjust. Frankly many of these ex-members who chose odd74 over Murkhill and Admin Pete because they feared to be banned there or elsewhere - you lot are cowards. If TPD deletes this post I'll understand & won't hold it against him at all - I love it here. The Admin Pete , mormonyoyoman , xizallian , Mighty Darci and others who embraced me after I joined, even though I was a opinionated fellow who was just getting into OD&D and Traveller. Add to this list Jakob Grimm , True Black Raven & others new to Murkhill who I've had wonderful conversations with since they joined; thank you all from the bottom of my heart. The last few months have been a bit rough for me and Murkhill has been a bastion for me. I am glad I am a member here & will stay as long as Murkhill lasts and you all will have me. I would agree with you on all but one thing. I think calling some members who left cowards is a bit too strong. People have projects they have been working on and some really long running play by posts and other responsibilities to members that are much longer standing that what they have done here. While I wish they had stayed and continued, I can't fault them if they were keeping longer running commitments. There may be other things going on in their lives that made them make the decision they did, so I am not ready to call them cowards, things are often more complex than that. On the other hand, you certainly have the right to feel that way. IMO the biggest reason not to talk about what goes on on other forums, is to keep drama here at a minimum and let all visitors see us at our best as a friendly place to be. And for me, I would not give anyone the satisfaction of seeing that they have affected me in any way.

(Sort of what I just texted to Mr PD) My Secret Origin of Beijing Banned was derailed this week by a threatened heart attack and a threatening doctor who spoke to me about my blood pressure of 300 over Vqqngun-5. Or something like that. Didn't get released until they got it under 200/85 and even then tranq'd me as much as Bruce Banner in a coma. (Remember those HUGE tranq pills that Ditko drew?) Hope to get it done by Monday after I finish the Elders' Quorum Newsletter, several ministering letters to shut-ins, our high priests' prayer roster, and something else I can't remember at midnight-13. Clarity of mind as well as real consciousness come and go. Take care of that blood pressure and listen to your doctor Mr Yoyo! It appears that you are super busy, but I take it cutting back is not an option you are considering? You have to allow those young folks to have something to do too. Why would anyone ban you, you are our good humor man and our defuse situations guy. People should be bidding on you spending time at their forum. (oops sorry PD, I guess I should not have put that idea in his mind)

That said, I do believe if they chose to do so their decision reeks of it. TPD has been fair to everyone who is a member here & mormonyoyoman didn't deserve the banning. I'll strive to keep the peace here from now on but the situation upset me deeply, to the point my stomach was in knots as I posted it - as this situation is very personal to me. I have no problem not calling out those members who left here in order to help keep the peace here but I am disappointed in them none the less. This old Hooligan doesn't turn the cheek easily, especially when others have been treated unjustly. I will apologize to members who left who felt they had no other resort but I do so grudgingly. This is why we need Mighty Darci & xizallian here more often to keep us in line

This is why we need Mighty Darci & xizallian here more often to keep us in line Another reason not to throw around the word coward is that this is an unprecedented thing that is going on and while a lot of people are doing one thing now, it is possible that they will change their minds as this plays out. I would not want them to think that I view them as unwelcome and as bad people. Because if they choose to revisit their decision and come back here, they are welcome and I will not hold it against them at all. That said I completely understand your feelings about the matter and I don't think any less of you for feeling that way. I need to have a different perspective and knowing the need I choose to look at it differently and also for the reasons that Mighty Darci stated I think a more charitable reading is warranted. I don't fault any of you for having strong feelings about this, I have some of my own as well. As you might imagine I am none too happy about people removing links to my blog or my forum from their blogs. I am also not happy that some of you will suffer the same fate, either the link will be removed or in the case of the newer blogs, never added in the first place. I think these posting projects for Hargrave, Gygax and Arneson will help with that, but I would like to work on promoting each of your blogs on my blog. I don't have a huge readership, but I have some traffic there.

I understand completely, which is why you are the big hoss around here Admin Pete. If I can link your blog and blog posts on mine I will. You deserve the support. As I said, this old hooligan has a harder time turning the cheek in such situations. You are a far better man than me, which is a reason I like you. Maybe you & Mighty Darci can be a moderating influence on me. We can hope anyway.

I wonder if I should link Murkhill to my LDS (Mormon) blog, my bandalore blog, or my mentalism blog. You couldn't mean my rolegaming blog. Nobody ever reads those things!

I doubt very much that I am "far better" man, I think it is more that I am older. When they brought the woman before Jesus to stone her, after he spoke the older ones left first.
