Today would have been mine and my late wife's 28th anniversary. Here are some pictures from out 20th anniversary trip, just before we found out about her health stuff. This is her at the Artic Circle and a couple of pictures of the trees at the Artic Circle in the next couple of posts, it never occurred to me that there would be trees of that size, I was expecting little short scrub brush. I have never been quite that far north, but I have also been impressed by the size of trees in picture at that latitude. I assume you had a great time on this trip, and I hope it was so. It was a fantastic trip, if you get the chance to go take it. Alaska is beautiful and the air is clean, like I remember from my childhood. We had so much fun!

At the end of the tour of Mt Denali National Park, the guide was telling us all that he did not think we were going to get to see a wolf as there were only one or two still in the park. When this wolf came up the road, so he just stopped and we waited. It crossed the road and went along side of the bus moving pretty fast. I had just barely enough time to stick my hand in the air, tilt the camera and snap the picture through the side window of the bus. We were amazed with the picture. (had a little extra light from the camera flash inside the bus) About three weeks after we got home, I heard a news report that it was official there were no more wolves in the park. That's a shame about no more wolves in the park. <looks around in a secretive manner> Any skinwalkers?

My oh so dexterous Wife slipped on our stairs yesterday and fractured her T5 vertebrae! Nothing like 8+ hours at the ER who boy. There is a reason her Uncle nicknamed her "Grace." Home now with pain meds and a back brace...it looks like some kind of armor lol.

I have about the same level of dexterity myself, so I do feel for her.

So a potential bright spot. My almost 79 year old Mother has been rehabbing at a nearby nursing home since falling ill in December/New Years. Finally able to get herself out of bed and around with a walker and wheelchair without assistance. She may be returning home in the not-so-distant future. We're springing her briefly tomorrow for the 4th! Having a discharge meeting on Friday with the facility.

She's currently playing cards (Play Nine) with Wife, Eldest Child and In-Laws and having a ball. Considering when she was admitted to the ER with Oxygen below 50 (ppm?) on New Years she's made a lot of progress. Sucks getting old so stop it already! I want to game face-to-face with the rest of the curmudgeons here...and the whipper snappers too!

Today is the day. My son goes in for surgery at 10:30 this morning. We just found out he has a kidney stone and it's not going to just pass. It measured 4 mm by 12 mm in the CT scan so that's pretty impressive. I woke up at 2 am to get ready for work and he had left a note asking if he could stay home because there was blood in his urine. I immediately woke him up and asked why he didn't come wake me up as we got dressed and headed for the ER. It wasn't blocking anything, but the kidney stone is tumbling and scraping causing the blood to appear. At least it's not at an emergency level of concern but it's just something that needs to be fixed (removed). He does seem to have a high tolerance for pain over the years and rarely complains about anything. He's like a tank and just keeps going. I just wish he would say something instead of being concerned with bothering someone. I won't gripe about getting woken up for something like this.

The doctor wanted an x-ray from his offices. He reviewed his findings with us. The size was accurate, but he also looked at the density. It's around 200 lower than the maximum to use sonics on it and the center should be around 200 less than that. It's sitting above the waist as well. It fits the criteria to come in and just have him hit it with sound and dissolve it so it can be passed easily. December 5th is the new day and not today.

UGH had a 7mm "monster" removed a few years ago...my sympathies. Got hit by a Ford F150 in a crosswalk back in 2016. They saw it at the time but never mentioned it to me...became a problem when it moved and blocked things up Happy to have a high level of healthcare in my immediate area. Glad your son is doing okay, at least I hope he is...
