Having brought up the subject of elves, here:
ruinsofmurkhill.proboards.com/thread/628/elves-own-magic
I thought it might be well to expand upon this (as PD asked)...here--
The idea is to incorporate into The Lost Lands, the following lists of spells that are exclusive to Elves, along with some that, in ages past, were translated and watered down by men; those adept in the study and practice of such became known as, wizards. While the names of the spells will be familiar to most gamers, these are only the loose translations of the actual spells themselves; to make it easy for referees to locate the actual spell description/s in the appropriate game manuals. Elf only spells are noted with an *.
1st Level:
Read Arcane Magic
Predict Weather
Remove Charm Effects*
Faerie Fire*
Detect Snares & Pits
Remove Sleep Effects*
2nd Level:
ESP
Locate Plants
Speak with Plants*
Warp Wood
Detect Invisible*
Knock
Speak with Animals*
3rd Level:
Slow Animal*
Protection/Fire
Call Lightning
Pyrotechnics
Haste
4th Level:
Protection/Lightning
Insect Plague
Confusion
Charm monster*
Animal Summons I
Remove Curse
Spells per day can be taken from the original MU table in book 1 of OD&D; or the referee can create his or her own.
In addition to those (and only those) spells noted above, all elves have innate abilities as follows:
All levels of character:
Reduce Paralysis (1-R/level)
Regenerate (like trolls) 1 hp/Turn after 3 full turns at rest.
+3 to hit goblins, +2 to hit orcs, +1 to hit with any bow (except crossbow)
1st-2nd level character:
Detect Magic (at will)
Flame Arrow (1/day/level; will hit creatures requiring magic weapons to hit)
3rd-4th level character:
Continual Light (1/day/3 levels)
Dispel Magic (1/day/3 levels)
5th-6th level character:
Become Invisible at will (1-R/level/day)
Note: all abilities are cumulative, though some appear only upon reaching certain character levels.
The following maps depict the land of the elves (ERELAND) as it is today (1st map) and what shape it was before part of the great continent sunk into the seas (2nd map)
