Colonel Berger speaks up and says, " Thank you Sergeant Major Marston for your endorsement for Troop Commander. I am ready to lead in that capacity and with men like the Sergeant Major I am confident that we can do our job. We need to make sure we have the equipment that we need, men with combat experience and transport craft with the legs give us an advantage." He continues, " Are there any objections to my holding that position?" Captain de Graff says, "I have known Colonel Berger a long time and highly approve of him being our Troop Commander and although I do not know Sergeant Major Marston yet, he and Colonel Berger have a good history and that is good enough for me. Looks like a great team to me."Charlie nods his agreement.

OOC: Does anyone else have a comment before erisred continues? OOC: I'll continue and you can backfill if necessary. "It sounds like the mission is a go, then." Captain Howard looks around and nods, "Swapping the weapon load from one turret to another, getting supplies and vehicle loadouts is something your team can handle in cooperation with the Lt. Commander here."
"I have every confidence in you, Captain Lin and Colonel Berger and all of your people." Captain Howard rises, "If you have further need of me, you can coordinate through Lt. Commander Clower."Howard leaves the room with his aide trailing behind and Samantha takes the chair at the head of the table, "Captain, Colonel, and everyone. To make my position clear it is as Liaison and facilitator, it not as a commander or a member of the chain of command for this operation. For the most part, and officially, I will simply be a passenger aboard The Nine Bells, unofficially an information gatherer and contact for forward assets that RNI has implanted on a few of the worlds inside the Mantan Sub-Sector."
"I can take you over to your new ship and let you look her over, now." she says, "Once you have gone through her and have a list of items that can be added or changes made...that take no more than a week or two to accomplish and don't break the bank, so to speak...we can have further discussions. Is that agreeable to everyone?"

Casca has his duffel in the corner and he picks it up. He runs his fingers over his scalp and realizes he needs a proper wash. That can wait for the new ship, he figures. the bag is stiffened with the spine provided by his cutlass, currently nestled amidst his spare clothes and personal effects.
As he looks around, he sizes up those around him. He's ready for this.

Ekhunoz thinks "finally" and sees the human that came on the same time he did and gets astride to him and gives a human gesture of pushing his head down and then up. He hoped it was in the right order.

It is a strange nod, like it is an unfamiliar action and one that the Vargr has practiced in the mirror. Casca searches his memory for this one's name. Isn't it E-cun-hun-zo? Something like that.

Former Corporal Joe Hinkle has resolutely kept his mouth shut even as he sat ramrod straight in the, too comfortable, chair a the table. Joe spent 20 plus years in the Romulan Army and never had to say anything other than "Yes Sir, No Sir" to anyone higher in rank than a shavetail second Looie that just about got everyone in his squad killed on Detatoni..."darn idiot standing up from behind a ridge with the moon behind him!"...tackled him to the ground as the bullets started whizzing past his head and said, "Keep your head down, Sir!" and then he and the surviving half squad vacated the Looie's area by 20 yards and waited for the mortar shells to start falling.
This mission sound interesting, but in Joe's humble opinion there are way too many Officers and not nearly enough grunts in the mix.
"They'll talk and strategize everything to death and end up getting everyone fried before they can make up their minds what to do." he grumbled to himself.
Looking around, without moving his head, he'd noticed a Squidie on the other side of the table that looked about as uncomfortable as he felt. The Squidie had been shifting his eyes around taking note of all the Shiny Buttons around him. Wondering if this guy was having the same thoughts, Joe wandered over to him.
"Hey, Bud." says Joe to Peng, "I'm Joe, Joe Hinkle. You know there's more brass in this room than you could put on a Streetcar Conductor's coat. Looking around I see very few working stiffs...if you know what I mean."

Adam and Otto, take note of this meeting, Adam because he knows how lazy and undisciplined Peng is (competent though he may be) and Otto because he knows former Corporal Hinkle by reputation as having great survival instincts in combat. They trade glances and will discuss this later in private.

Casca sidles up to Ekhunoz. He;s happy to have a partner, and the Vargr also seems like an odd-man-out.
"Hey there. I'm Casca. Help me to pronounce your name."

Casca does his best, and determines to use the name, saying it properly.
"Ekhunoz, we seem to be caught up in this. Are you content? Where will you be stationed in this new arrangement?" He listens to the Vargr describe his skills, and recognizing the ways they overlap with and complement his own, he suggests, "I feel we might be able to work together comfortably, especially if we are to start taking ship's boats as prizes."

Not put off by Peng's silence Joe continues to talk, "I'm retired Army, as I guess you've gathered. Are you retired Navy?"
"When it comes to the way things *really* work, I guess there's not too much difference between Navy and Army. They with the buttons gets and the rest of us scrounge for a living, right?" Joe grins and nudges Peng with his elbow, "What's with the Vargr over there? He's one of your guys right? I've never served with one of them before, I've heard they're way touchy."
Joe glances over at the pair of tall Alsan and adds nodding toward Tak and Tol, "But not as touchy as those folks, or so I've heard. Might make sense to make nice, huh?"
Joe subtly nudges Peng over toward the pair of Alsan walking toward the door, "Say, hey!" he calls to the pair.
"Hinkle." he says nodding but not offering a hand, "Josef Hinkle is my name, but my friends call me Joe. Looks like we're going to be squad mates...or ship mates, I'm not use to this Navy lingo, yet."
"I'd offer to shake your hands, but I've never actually met your specie before and don't know if that's polite in your society or not. I'll wait for a Yay or Nay from yousal." Joe grins and waits for Tak or Tol to reply. Joe is short and thin with a thin scar running from his buzz cut hair line down to the middle of his left cheek. The scar puckers as he grins giving his left eye a slight squint. He is dressed in a very plain green coverall belted at the waist with the trouser legs tucked in to very shiny mid calf black boots. He has a green cap of some kind folded and tucked under his belt on his left side and a pair of leather gloves folded and tucked into his belt on the right side Tak notes that this human is standing in an easy balance manner that he recognizes as "Patient Defense"...not offering a threat, but instantly ready for both movement and parry if that becomes necessary.

The Aslan are standing together, with the noticeably bulkier, grey-pelted male standing just a bit behind the sleeker, tawny-pelted female's shoulder. Their heads swivel at the same moment to track Joe as he approaches, their ears raised. "Hello," the female says in a smooth contralto. Her common speech is oddly accented, but not unpleasantly so. "I am Tokheletoi, and this is Takheal, my protector." The male extends his hand and grasps Joe's forearm in a firm grip for a moment. "Welcome to the crew. I am hoping for good hunting."

Otto takes the opportunity to introduce his two friends. "Lord Eric Marston it is my pleasure to introduce you to Sir Adam de Graff, Merchant Captain, Adam worked many years for Delgado Trading, then left to Captain a free trader that was doing undercover work for Romanian Naval Intelligence. The RNI used the free trader to sniff out pirates/hijackers and such in part of their Empire. Sir Adam de Graff, it is my pleasure to introduce you to Lord Eric Marston, Sergeant Major. Eric is a Marine Commando with great instincts in battle and a real leader of men. I think we are going to have good hunting on this trip. I known both of you for a long time and cannot think of any other two people I would be more pleased to serve with."
Adam shakes hands with Eric and says, "It is a distinct pleasure to meet you Lord Marston and Colonel Bergers' high regard for you speaks volumes to me, I am looking forward to working together with you both to clean up the Mantan Subsector."

That counts with me. “The fact that he’s willing to revisit the command structure once we all know one another better speaks well to his ego. It goes back to titles, I suppose. We’ll have a good feel for how it’s working shortly, I suspect.”

"Sorry I didn't catch your name, too busy being overwhelmed by the mission briefing and the officers taking the Oxygen out of the room, but didn't you say you were a tech, a mechanic type person?"

Samantha calls for attention and then calls out loudly enough for everyone to hear "Let's move over to the hanger where The Nine Bells is being prepared for us to continue this. We can take a walk around and then continue the discussions in your new ship."
Sam leaves the room and heads down the corridor with everyone following.
The group around Jo Hinkle follows along toward the back of the pack.
"Say, didn't someone get introduced as the cook for this outfit?" Jo says as the group walks adding with a grin, "The cook is the second most important person in any outfit...right after the medic."
He looks around, "Could someone point out the cook to me? I want to meet him, ask him a question."
He looks at those around him expectantly...
OOC: Moving to a new thread!

"When it comes to the way things *really* work, I guess there's not too much difference between Navy and Army. They with the buttons gets and the rest of us scrounge for a living, right?" Joe grins and nudges Peng with his elbow, "What's with the Vargr over there? He's one of your guys right? I've never served with one of them before, I've heard they're way touchy."Joe glances over at the pair of tall Alsan and adds nodding toward Tak and Tol, "But not as touchy as those folks, or so I've heard. Might make sense to make nice, huh?"Joe subtly nudges Peng over toward the pair of Alsan walking toward the door, "Say, hey!" he calls to the pair. "Hinkle." he says nodding but not offering a hand, "Josef Hinkle is my name, but my friends call me Joe. Looks like we're going to be squad mates...or ship mates, I'm not use to this Navy lingo, yet."Peng looks a bit confused, not at first having realized that Joe was addressing him. [OOC: I really was puzzled as to who this new NPC was talking to . . .] "Hey, Joe. Name's Peng Silva. Most folk call me Peng . . . when they don't call me Ha'penny or Bad Penny. I think those come from folk hearing "Silva" as "Silver," then riffin' on my lack of height or . . . well, my less than complete respect for laws, regs and rules."He looks around in the same way Joe is doing, then adds with a cheeky grin: "Yeah, it looks like we're all going to be together on the same ship. Guess we'll be getting to know each other right well . . . assuming we don't up and die too quick."

"Darn, Penny! Don't jinx us!" Josef says with a chuckle, "I'm hoping to live a long and useless life of waste and foolishness."
