Warlock's Tower
Note that the female is the one given credit for being practical and being the one who made sure the whole thing was useful.

Feel free to ask questions and I will do my best to answer them. IMO this volume is also much more useful than "The Complete Warlock" itself.

What do they do with constructing magic weapons, armor and shields, wands and staves?

Are there any unusual items listed that would be really useful in a campaign? The Equipment List includes various alcoholic beverages, Vegetables and Fruit, Various Meats, Eggs and Dairy Products, Baked Goods, Lodgings and Meals, Stabling, Grains, Seasonings, Miscellaneous, Clothing, Melee Weapons, Archery Equipment, Armor, Horses and Equipment. A lot of flavor to the list, but nothing that strikes me as particularly significant.

What do they do with constructing magic weapons, armor and shields, wands and staves? There is a cost in spell points. You generate a number that is the percent chance of success. A failure can create a cursed item. (So here we have the thought that cursed items might not always be intentional but accidents.)

There is also a Gold Piece cost to the manufacture of items.
Once the Magic User has successfully researched the item, the number of items is only limited by his spell points and gold.
Or instead of making the item, he could make a Construction Scroll for the item.
Magic Users may also try to repair items.
This whole section is rather lengthy.

It goes into writing scrolls and on constructing Magic Weapons.
Noting that there are three types of Magical Weapons. All of these are addressed separately.

Then it goes into Constructing Armor and Shields.
Followed by Constructing Wands, Constructing Staves, Constructing Potions, Constructing Rings and Miscellaneous Magic.
Just after this section is a Magic Item Destruction Saving Throw Table.
My take on this is that you could cut the number of words down to 1/10 what they used and cover the same material and add some cool stuff to your game, if you have a high level campaign.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I only just learned about it while looking for for information about one of the people mentioned. However, I used to play this game with several of the people mentioned and still have my copies of the books, although they're not in the best of shape. A few comments: the name of the person who is credited for the clerical rules and typing up many versions is Kenneth M. Dahl, not Bahl. (typo). Yes, many of the players are still playing, and in person (although I believe they DO have several players who join them online in some way). They're using a slightly modified form of the rules; several additions and changes were made to fit ideas various players have had over the years. New classes, and much of the hybrid D20 rolls have been converted to percentile so that everything(-ish) is comparable to the original combat style. I believe there is a PDF version of the current rules, but they'd probably be equivalent to an elaborate set of house rules. When I played (1976-1982), they never seemed to consider themselves a supplement to D&D, but rather a completely different game branching off of the original Chainmail and (pre-first-edition? I'm not sure of the timing) rules. As best I remember, they started writing their version of the game around 1972. The levels in the game were somewhat more fine-grained than those of TSR's game at the same time, so a 20th-level character in Warlock really was not comparable to a 20th level character in oD&D. However, the balance of power was also quite different, given Warlock was intended to allow for characters as high as 50th level, with in-house spell progressions for spells up to 19th(?) level. Warlock's Tower Note that the female is the one given credit for being practical and being the one who made sure the whole thing was useful.

Found a Yahoo group some while back and joined. They run a game (sadly far away from my East coast locale.) Someone recently posted asking if the IP for Warlock was still claimed. I'm curious myself. Have always wanted a copy of the game but not at the auction prices demanded these days.

The copyright for Warlock has a long time to run and at least one of the copyright holders is likely to be around for at least another 20 years. Because of WotC, not sure if they could do much commercially if they wanted to.

It's been some time so I don't quite remember how I got hooked up there.

I believe there's a server or a Google Group that hosts the latest version of the rules that the current group is using. I'm afraid I don't know the location, but it's probably up on Google Drive. I know they've added an Illusionist class, as well as more weapons & fighting classes, but that's all from my (very fallible) memory. I *did* just learn that Balboa Games was a division of The War House, a gaming store in Long Beach, CA that shut their doors when its original owner passed away recently. They have a FB page, if that helps. Also, Nick Smith, the primary editor of Warlock /might/ be reachable through LASFS. I'm pretty sure he's no longer at the address I had for him in the 1980's.
