27th Edition Platemail - Book of Magic This is an extensive list of spells for 27th Edition Platemail and some of them would be readily usable in a campaign as evil spells for evil villains.

This is intensely cool. It combines the look and feel of the ad&d books with the earthiness of earlier editions...

The really funny thing about this is that the author believes (or at least claims publicly) that there is no old school at all and that there is no real difference between any of the various versions of D&D. He claims no difference at all between OD&D and 3E. He implies that we are all lying when we contrast different play styles and then he writes this. I decided he is just trolling people with the things he says, versus what he writes.

I decided he is just trolling people with the things he says, versus what he writes. I'm surprised to hear that, for obvious reasons. The thing about this document is (well, the first thing is that is has such truly horrible things in it but with a sort-of DIY feel that they don't seem so packaged) that it has an almost random feel to it. As if it wasn't written up with any purpose, just happens to be a list of some spells and other wild things. Now that I think about it, I can almost imagine the author actually holding those views you described. There's something kin of OSR, kind of AD&D, kind of SRD about this thing.

Just revisited this.
This document reminds me so much of the feel of the early editions. Like the lists of spells are so many possibilities that could come up in the world, that could be learned by wizards.
In modern editions I just feel like everything in the book is available at Walmart for the asking.

There's a BIG difference in feel between a shopkeeper that has been rumored to sell a magical item or two so people in the area tend to buy from him and the full on magical shop with rows and rows of a variety of magical goods for sale.
