Tokheletoi drew her pistol as well and moved up behind and to the side of Takheal such that she had a clear line of fire. She was not a warrior and would defer to Takheal but her protective instincts were stirred up by the possibility of a threat to her holdings. Takheal took comfort in the fact that Tokheletoi was as good with a pistol as he himself was. Some warriors would have taken umbrage, but he knew he could count on her, even on the evidence of their brief acquaintance. He drew in a breath, and focused on listening and seeing as he padded through the cargo bay.

Takheal appears with pistol in hand, at which time the lights come on in the cargo bay. The Aslan looks around, and then at Charlie. "Shall we work our way across to the other hatch, first?" “Sounds good.” Charlie raised his voice. “if someone is in the hold, now is the time to raise your hands and avoid any surprises. Trust me when I say that none of us want and surprises right now.” Charlie There is no reply. With the rows of large containers that you are shipping for your client you can't see much inside the cargo hold. The large boxes in the hold each contain a Base Module that will form the beginnings of the trade missions on each of the planets where you drop off one of the traders. The Modules are each in a 20 ton metal container that are arranged in rows and stacked one atop another. The modules themselves are self contained units that will support up to 3 people for months, providing living quarters and workspaces.

Tokheletoi looked to Takheal and nodded as he stepped out ahead to scout as was his right and duty. She could more than defend herself for such was often required to protect family and possessions in an unsafe world but this was warrior's work. Still she had a duty to protect both her partner and her investment so she readied her weapon and followed a few steps behind the much larger male.

Takheal moves quickly and quietly. She makes it to the other side of the hold without seeing anyone, or a sign that anyone is in the hold. Once at the opposite bulkhead Takheal moves forward doing the same sort of examination as she goes. She finds nothing that shouldn't be there, nor any signs of disturbance along the way.

As the pair moved through the rows of large shipping crates neither found anything that indicated anyone else was in the hold. Tokheletoi couldn't help but feel a bit disconcerted at finding nothing.

[OOC: F**k it. I'm just going to go for it . . .]As he hears the situation at their ship start to become interesting, Peng glances over at Gil. The two nod at each other and without speaking move up into a trot, which is as fast as they can realistically move, as they weave through the crowd of locals and visitors.
[Internal Thought]Too bad I'm only carryin' my Blade . . .[/Internal Thought]
"Peng here. Headin' in at best speed."
The soft PING! of a message alert from Peng's [and possibly Gil's] comms goes completely unheard against the noisy background of the pub, as Peng and Gil continue to idly chat. The winking red light on one or the other device *may* eventually get noticed, however . . .The blinking red light on Gil's comm attached to his belt catches Peng's eye and he glances down at his own. It's blinking, too. The storm outside is raging, but from the noise it appears to be past its peak now. According to what he's been told, it should be safe to leave shelter in another minute or two. OOG: We had a storm front come through here this morning. It went from partly cloudy to almost pitch dark followed by two peals of thunder, rising wind that gusted up to 40+ mph, a deluge of rain, and then calm in a space of 30 minutes. An hour later the sun was back out, the temperature had dropped by 10 degrees and the humidity by more than that.

The thing is, Takheal continues to feel a tingle at the base of his spine, he just *feels* something is off in here, but he can't find anything wrong. OOC: Charlie and Emilya both noted that one of the flashlights that was on the wall near the hatch is missing. I don't think Takheal or Tokheletoi noticed that. IAC, they didn't find said flashlight anywhere along the rows of cargo containers.

Where else could someone with a light get that we're not thinking of?" Charlie

"We must keep searching." The Aslan begins to search the cargo area again, carefully checking each container. He also looks for any opening, hatch, or access panel someone could pass through or hide behind. He holsters his pistol so he can use both hands for his task.

Seeing as Mighty Darci hasn't posted in a while, I'll NPC Raven...just a bit here.IG: Once Blackjack and Raven step through the airlock, securing the outer hatch, and entering the ship he says, "How about a cup of coffee?" The pair walk over to the galley where Cyril is sitting at the table going over his meal plans. There is a pot of coffee, perpetually, brewing on the hob and Blackjack strolls over to it, "Hey there Cyril Anything important happen while we were off ship?" Over the galley's comm you hear Dr. Vargas say, "I'm locking down the ship hatches and firing up the Anti-Hijacking software, so everyone chime in over the comm with your voice so the software can track where everyone is located."

[OOC: I am going to assume that the comms are advanced enough to automatically record transmissions and play these back as needed, at least until deliberately deleted . . .]
Peng triggers his comm's feedback loop and after hearing the first indication of trouble, sets the replay to double-speed to hear the rest (in squeaky but still recognizable voices).
Looking up at Gil with an urgent nod, he then hits "Push To Talk" and says: "Gil and I are on our way!"
Amid some mildly curious looks from the locals around them, the two immediately head out into the dying storm.

Tokheletoi nodded to Takheal as they moved through the cargo hold. Despite the dull roar of the storm outside she felt the hackles rise on the back of her neck. "There is something here, prey." She whispered to Takheal. "Someone or something has stowed away or infiltrated." When the anti-hijacking system was activated she relaxed just a bit knowing that the most critical spaces would at least be protected. "This is Tokheletoi," she spoke out loud to set her location in the protective software systems.

Peng and his companion hurry through the remains of the storm at the best pace they can manage.
[Internal Thought]Wet and nasty! But at least the streets are clear, so we can make good time.[/Internal Thought]
Peng continues to monitor the comm as he hustles along. He itches to ask questions, but doesn't want to distract anyone unnecessarily at a dangerous moment.

Amid some mildly curious looks from the locals around them, the two immediately head out into the dying storm. There is serious gale force winds coming from your right with gusts strong enough to stagger you. Gil tries to yell over the storm, but you just see his mouth moving, then he motions for you to duck to the left down an alley running perpendicular to the wind. Once through the alley and then out behind a building giving some protection from the wind the two of you make fair time toward the ship. You stop as the buildings end and you reach a 50 to 60 meter stretch of open tarmac from where you are to the ship. The wind is still gusting very strongly and you see boards and large pieces of wood tumbling across the space you need to cross and clanging with loud bangs against the thick hurricane fence that edges the starport's edge. The windows and doors to the Terminal Building are covered with metal shutters and loud "clangs" come from there as occasional debris whacks into the shutters. Gil shouts to you, "We can't make it across there and, look." he points at the Clear Sails, "She's got the hatches all closed and the gangway is withdrawn. We couldn't get in there right now anyway!"Gil hunkers down next the wall of the building you are hiding behind and shouts, "If it's only a few minutes we can wait it out."

OOG: And extremely attractive noses at that... at least for the females... OOG: That made me laugh! Thanks for that!IG: Both Tak and Tol pick up a strange smell. They've been smelling it since they entered the cargo bay. It's an animal, but not one they are familiar with. Tokheletoi believes there is a touch of fear in the smell, but isn't sure not knowing the animal. It is certain, *something* has been in the cargo hold that wasn't here before the ship landed on Shiralea...recently.
