He doesn't think it's dangerous, but is willing to cut Peng in for a quarter of the money if he comes along as backup. Peng grunts assent, then comments, "Just between you, me and this mug o' piss, we're going to always have to watch out around Raven. She's got a special sort of dislike for the small package trade and keeps trying to put the kybosh on independent operators like us."While you're drinking at the bar an old timer dressed in the local garb sits down beside you and after looking you up and down says, "Ya not from round here are ya? Ya come for the Morganites, the local fascists?"
He looks at you hard then leans in with a sly grin and says softly, "Na, I bet you're here to search for La Varita, the lost treasure ship.Gilroy snorts and says, "I suppose you just happen to have a map to sell, too, huh?"
"Na! Na!" he leans back then says softly with a wink, "Not in a public bar anyway?"Peng takes a sip of his drink, then looks down his nose at the local and opines, "Don't 'La Varita' mean 'Lady o' Truth' or something like? You should be ashamed, running a con on a gal like that.'"Then Peng turns his back on the guy and starts speculating to Gil on the possible existence of the "oldest profession 'round hereabouts and what the going rate for a night might be."

[OOC: Unless something interesting happens to delay us, Peng and Gil will be back to the ship just as soon as the Big Blow and consequent rush half-hour allows.] While talking to Gil about the "oldest profession" you notice the lights turn a pale shade of red. Then you hear a rumbling noise followed by a low pitched howl that rises in pitch that comes from outside the building. Inside the locals seem to tense up, just a bit, but take what's happening outside in stride. The howl increases and decreases in pitch but continues for a good 15 minutes before winding down and stopping in only a minute or so. The lights turn back to normal and it seems everyone let's out a breath in a collective sigh.

OOC: Assumption on my part that you'd just "run with it." Here you go... OOC: You aren't looking in their direction but Raven's and Takheal's groups have just come together a hundred meters from the ship and are heading in your direction. Just to be clear, Gilroy and Peng are not with this group, they are in a bar drinking beer, chatting with a local, and planning to ride out the Big Wind there. IG: While Charlie and Emyia are finishing up talking to the local workers and just as they leave, you both catch movement from the corner of your eye. Something moved over near the open cargo hatch behind and to your right...you are sure of it...but taking another look you don't see anything moving around back there now. OOC: I didn't want to jump the gun with an assumption. Charlie did a double take. "Did you see something over by the cargo hatch?" Not waiting for an answer, he trotted over that way, looking around before he heads inside. It might have been an animal, or maybe a person sneaking aboard. Charlie Emilya follows Charlie as he trots over to the cargo hatches, "The hatches need shutting for the bad weather, if nothing else." Charile looks inside, but doesn't see anything out of place...that he can tell from standing outside.

Charlie Charlie walks up the ramp and into the cavernous cargo hold. It is dimly lighted in here with many deep shadows where the large shipping containers that the merchants aboard are transporting are secured to the deck. Looking around Charlie sees nothing that looks out of place. Behind him Emilya walks up the ramp and steps to the side to hit the button that will pull the ramp up and close the hatch. There are light switches at these controls as well. She can increase the light if she wishes. She also sees nothing that looks out of place in here, but she is also well aware of the large containers that could be hiding most anything...

While the others converse, Takheal boards the ship and prepares to receive the supplies he ordered at Chandler's. OOG: I'm running Tokheletoi until Matt returns - he did email me, so he's okay, just really busy.Tokheletoi follows Raven back to the ship, and sees Takheal heading to the gangway. She catches up with him as he prepares to board. "Are the supplies enroute?" Takheal lowers his ears respectfully. "They are scheduled to arrive after the Big Wind, whatever that is." "I will make room for them, and you can attend me." "Of course." The pair enters the ship and makes it ready to receive the supplies when they arrive. Tak and Tol go up the gangway to the open outer hatch talking in their native tongue. Before they disappear into the air lock they glance back and see the Captain and Owner strolling along behind them. They could wait for the humans, or go ahead and cycle through and make them wait...

Raven walks along with Blackjack. They start to mount the gangway up to the air lock with the two Aslan ahead of them. She feels the wind beginning to rise. It isn't more than 20 knots now, but it is supposed to quickly increase to a steady 40 or 50 knots over the next couple of minutes and blow like that for around half and hour.
"You handled the Port Authority well." Blackjack is says, then adds, "I really am planning to retire from travelling with the ship and head off with Madame Chu you know. Are you ready to be the Captain and principle owner of your own ship, Raven?"

Tokheletoi lightly touches Takheal's arm and vocalizes a sound that, to a human, was like a low cough, to draw his attention. The taller male turns, and seeing where her attention is directed, he stops and waits for the higher ranking humans to arrive at the hatch.

I'm ready to go into the stacks but I'd like backup and someone to make sure no one is getting into the rest of the ship." Charlie

Tokheletoi's ears perked up as she heard the call from Charlie over the comm. Nodding to Takheal she triggered her comm. "Takheal and I are near the entrance to the bay just behind you. We're moving up and will join you for a search."

Tokheletoi nodded approvingly as Takheal reacted to the threat. She drew her pistol and slipped in behind and to his side to allow the warrior to take the lead. Looking around she stepped over to the control panel near the entry door to bring the lighting up to full intensity.
OOC: Assuming we can be armed.

[OOC: F**k it. I'm just going to go for it . . .]
As he hears the situation at their ship start to become interesting, Peng glances over at Gil. The two nod at each other and without speaking move up into a trot, which is as fast as they can realistically move, as they weave through the crowd of locals and visitors.
[Internal Thought]Too bad I'm only carryin' my Blade . . .[/Internal Thought]
"Peng here. Headin' in at best speed."
The soft PING! of a message alert from Peng's [and possibly Gil's] comms goes completely unheard against the noisy background of the pub, as Peng and Gil continue to idly chat. The winking red light on one or the other device *may* eventually get noticed, however . . .

[OOC: Can Peng eavesdrop on this signal? Or is it restricted to in-ship only?] OOC: Peng could hear it if he picks up his comm unit when it beeps....but with the timing, if Peng and Gil try to return to the ship they'll get stuck in the middle of the "Big Wind" with whatever that means. Peng's and Gilroy's comms beep on their belts as they are sipping beers in the local bar.

Any, or all could pick up, hear and respond. I'm going to have to lightly NPC Emilya when Ebon isn't around. IG: Emilya is *with* Charlie, behind him just outside the cargo hold standing on the loading ramp. She pulls her blade from her scabbard and steps to Charlie's side. She eyes the holder for the lights, then to Charlie holding one, then nods to him. Charlie takes this as agreement that something is off...there *really* should have been two torches there not one.

Tokheletoi drew her pistol as well and moved up behind and to the side of Takheal such that she had a clear line of fire. She was not a warrior and would defer to Takheal but her protective instincts were stirred up by the possibility of a threat to her holdings.
