I am a big fan of raised beds, I foot high for tomatoes and cucumbers and stake them. And a three foot high raised bed for little stuff like lettuce, carrots, onions, and such, so you don't have to bend over. If I can work things out and stay here where I am, I would like to do a lot more raised beds. Every year I swear to myself that THIS year I'll have a produce garden. Hasn't happened yet. But if it ever does, it'll be a raised bed/container garden, based on The Square Foot Garden method. I bookmarked that site.

hard to type w one hand. but things have gone from bad to worse. the hospiral bochted wife's surgerty an now she is parized on he left side Bet they left a sponge or a clamp or something similar behind when they closed up. I've read that this is the most common source of complications. It would seem fairly straightforward to keep count of everything put in then make sure the count of what got took back out matches, before you close. But I guess that's too challenging. Maybe they should have someone outside the operating room watching (and counting) through a streaming video link?

I have been a bit out of things the last few days, my dog Daisy (85 lbs of lap dog) is having cancer surgery tomorrow on Tuesday. This is the second time, the first was about 4 years ago. So I am going to be behind on looking at peoples posts and will try to catch up in a few days. Please pray for a good outcome.

Daisy was in surgery a little over 3 hours today. Surgery was more complicated than they expected. $730+, 40 years ago if you had told me I would spend $1100 on a dog in a months time I would told you, you were crazy. All our farm dogs got in the 50s and 60s was a rabies shot and distemper shot. Things change when you have an indoor dog.
But she came through OK and is drinking OK, has not eaten anything yet and she needs to eat to take the pain pill, but the antibiotic pill she does not need to eat, but the only way she will take pills is wrapped in cheese and she is turning that down right now.
She does not see to be in any pain but is really washed out right now. The anesthesia knocks her for a loop and it takes a few months for her to be fully back to normal just from the anesthesia. I have observed that people are the same way, it takes months to recover from the anesthesia, even if a procedure was minor.
I appreciate the prayers and encouragement. Please pray that I will be able to give her her medicine before long.

Thank you all. I am really hoping this takes care of the cancer. I am not going to put her through chemo or anything like that. Bad enough to feel like that for a human that knows what is going on.

It is quite different when you have a pet that you live with, they become part of the family. You are more their companion, friend and parent than their owner after not even very long. I had a $23,000 cat and have twice driven across three states to pick up kittens that we had fallen in love with from the blog of a lady who fosters pregnant cats and posts their daily progress. We have two dogs and six cats. They're all our kids, and I know it is the same for you with Daisy.

Thank you all for the encouragement. Most things seem to be going well and the drains come out tomorrow; on the other hand, Daisy is still not eating and won't take any medicine. I am worried about infection, if I cannot get her to take the antibiotic.

Your vet may be able to give an antibiotic injection (Convenia or similar).

Your vet may be able to give an antibiotic injection (Convenia or similar). I am hoping that she will take medicine sometime today. She finally ate a little bit today, I was able to get her to eat a couple of small meat treats, later another and a small doggie bone, and then later a little bit of some ground beef and rice that cooked up and seasoned with a little butter and little bacon grease (both unsalted) that made it smell good. She has been sleeping most of the day.
