I vote that we rewind, or at least, have her respond to us before the interruption.

I also vote for a rewind, to the point after James' reply to my initial post mentioning her.
Essentially, I see it unfolding like this:
Princess IWD rushes up to our table, slaps down her crudely-drawn map and pleads: "Please help me rescue my brother!" [or words to that effect].
Suzuki then responds in amazement as he did and James' PC responds, as the rest of the party gapes at this mad woman in amazement.
Then we all notice the three men headed for our table, one of them waving a hypospray as they close the distance, at which point Princess can scream and we can react (by standing and asking for ID, in Suzuki's case).

Sorry for being missing in action the last 4 days. It's been a very busy time at work, so of course that means that the regular audit shift guy chose NOW to quit without warning . . . Anyway, I've finally got some decent sleep behind me now. As to the question above, I don't think anything in the above posts needs to be retconned. We can just re-start the scene from the end of the reply by James, to the effect that if Princess really IS a local aristo, then she might be able to help us acquire both air-recycling parts and a few heavy machine guns. Although - frankly - if she is so bereft of local support that she feels she must ask random strangers in a starport tavern for help versus a gang of kidnappers, Suzuki is going to have a rather hard time believing that she can actually help the party to any significant degree.

I was thinking that made sense.

Regarding the re-started scene: Since we've not yet had a physical description of Princess IWD, I took the liberty of making her a "towering blonde," in order to increase the visual contrast with Danny.

NOTE: In case it isn't obvious, my goal in the current scene is to have Danny successfully (and fairly quickly) talk the Princess down from her panic attack, so that Suzuki can say something on the order of, "She seems calm enough, now. Why don't you leave her with us for a little while? I'll make sure she doesn't hurt herself. Consider it a chance to see if her therapy - She is getting therapy, right? - is working."

Just a note, I've got a nasty cold, so my responses may take a bit longer than usual (not that there's a usual here yet...).

NOTE: My most recent post to the current scene points out that I have been assuming that the cops are wearing local police uniforms. Otherwise, it would be hard to explain why all of us instantly recognized them *as* cops, as they initially approached our table.

OBSERVATION: The current action has progressed quite some way beyond "Mustering Out and Acquiring The One That Got Away."
Should our party choose to accept this crazy quest, I assume a new thread will be opened for it?
Given the very slim prospect of success - and the VERY LARGE prospect of getting into hot water with the very authorities with whom he wants to make a weapons export deal - I don't really see Suzuki voting to take on this contract. Even Danny - as sympathetic as she is to PIWD's plight - isn't going to want to risk her neck for a guy who's almost certainly already been chopped up and flushed through a trash compactor somewhere.

Oh, I was just thinking, we may want to consider how to proceed without Mighty Darci's characters... That would pretty much leave Adam Suzuki as your captain...

At this point I'm waiting to see if Richard's characters respond to the offer of fake IDs.

Welcome back, Mighty Darci!
As to the prospect of fake IDs, those will be useful if the party decides to take this job offer. But - as he just whispered back in reply to Rockie - Suzuki is just not feeling like this is a good job to take. Because if the PIWD is so powerless and alone, he's pretty sure that the money she's offered as payment (especially the larger share that she apparently thinks is waiting for her off-world) is no longer accessible to her. And while he's as charitable as the next guy, committing what would at least be Breaking And Entering if not Assault With A Deadly Weapon (against any security forces on site) to help someone he just met is a BIT over the top. Not to mention that getting into trouble with the local power structure is exactly the opposite of how Suzuki wants to interact with them.

At the current point in the action thread, Suzuki is recommending that Mighty Darci's NPC Captain Brown accompany him and Jame Rowe's NPC Emma to speak to Colonel Saylor. He is doing so partly because it makes eminent sense in-game, but also because it gives each currently active player a voice in each part of the coming split party. E.g. all three of us will be able to post to both scenes (the interview with Saylor and the stay-behinds working on the ship/vehicle).

Just throwing this out there, so that my fellow players and GM are aware of the direction that Suzuki's thoughts are currently turning:
Since the Colonel wants to avoid any possibility of Imperial entanglement in this situation and all of us are very-recently-mustered-out Imperial service members, maybe we ought to return this lady's money, wish her well and go upon our happy way?
If not - if we're still going to do this - then Suzuki wants to feel out the local underworld, in hopes of gaining as much relevant information as possible. In particular, we need to know how powerful our Noble Opposition* is in comparison with the official government. If he is powerful enough to openly commit kidnapping and not be challenged, then we're not going to be able to free the brother with any degree of subtlety. If he must hide his crime, then we've got a chance.
Ideally, what Suzuki hopes to discover is a powerful rival to our Noble Opposition, someone who can be manipulated into doing most or all of this job for us.
*Just what is this guy's name, anyway? I can't recall being told.

I can't recall being told. Baron von Schloss. It sounds like you are asking for a decision to dig more into the situation, or leave it be, so I think I'm waiting for player input. If you are digging for more information, let me know who is digging and what angle you would like to take. Emma had already done some search and made an Admin roll and didn't come up with a lot, so you will need to consider a different angle (computer hacking, looking for people to talk to, etc.). The lack of information Emma came up with and the excuse of mental illness suggests a need on the Baron's part to keep things quiet (at least from the populace if not the authorities, Lady Madelein did say something about the authorities sort of being in the Baron's pocket).

I'm still interested, just waiting for ffilz or Richard to post. Sorry it took me so long to post again. The holidays have been extremely hectic here. The hotel has been full almost every night. But now that New Years is behind us, it should be quiet - with the exception of MLK and Valentine's weekends - until the spring breakers start arriving toward the end of March. ***************************************** As to Emma's overeagerness in the scene with Saylor, I just want to make it clear that while Suzuki is becoming rather irritated with her, I - his player - am not. This is excellent roleplaying, which is the whole reason that I'm here.
