I stumbled upon some videos on the new DMG on YouTube. It sounds like some of the content is actually going to be helpful for new DM's - THIS IS IN NO WAY AN ENDORSEMENT OR RECOMMENDATION - and I found the overview a lot more interesting than the PHB. It's not my jam, but here is the official overview.

I'll likely get it, as a gift or at a discount at some point. Because I'm a core rules completest. As an example I have the 4th Ed Core books and I've not done more than page through them once...
