With wingspans of 19cm, Giant Forest Damselflies are the largest-living members of the dragonfly family, but that's nothing compared to Meganeura. This extinct dragonfly, with lived in Europe during the Carboniferous period (300 million years ago) had a wingspan of more than 70cm.
