I have been interested in the following series for years, but I have not read them. I'm interested in hearing any opinions from those that have read them.
Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson has a reputation for being very detailed. I did pick up the first book, but I have yet to start reading it.
The Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind. I have read the first book, and I did enjoy it. I picked up the first 6 books in great condition for 50 cents each at Goodwill while I took the kids to Disney World.
The Saga of Recluce by L.E. Modesitt, Jr. seems to always be on my radar when I'm looking at books whether at the store or a garage sale. They stand out to me because they have great cover images by Darrell K. Sweet. I found the first three books at the used bookstore down the street for $3 each.
Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn by Tad Williams has been on my "to be read" list for years but I just never have picked them up.
If you have an opinion, I'd like to hear it. Let me know the good, bad, or the ugly....

Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson has a reputation for being very detailed. I did pick up the first book, but I have yet to start reading it. I have not had a chance to look at this at all. The Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind. I have read the first book, and I did enjoy it. I picked up the first 6 books in great condition for 50 cents each at Goodwill while I took the kids to Disney World. I tried to read the first book three times and just cannot get into the story. I really loved the title and wanted to like it. I have read all of these except maybe the one or two most recent. Plus I have read the Spellsong Cycle. I have only the highest praise for both and cannot recommend them highly enough. I loved all of them and they hold up really well on re-reads. He creates characters I really get into. Also his take on Order and Chaos in the Recluce books really is a great illustration of Lawful and Chaotic alignment the way it was originally presented where Law tends towards good and Chaos tends towards evil but Law isn't necessarily good and Chaos isn't necessarily evil. Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn by Tad Williams has been on my "to be read" list for years but I just never have picked them up. I have seen but never really looked at these.

I thought the good outweighed the bad BUT I'm not sure if I want to try to read 20 more books for the complete tale.

That's very reassuring and makes me want to start those next!
