A little Basic Background Info:
Town Name Chaiftfalls A walled town. Immediate area is grasslands with clumps of trees and fence rows, outside the cleared fields is temperate forest. The town is on the west bank of the river that runs northwest to southeast. At this time of year is should be running nearly bankful (about 5o feet wide) but the water level is low and only about 25 feet wide. About a half mile north of town is a 50' waterfall.
Population Approximately 4900; mostly human with a few elves, dwarves and hobbits. At the north end is the manor house of Baron Liam Farbridge It has a large, more formidable wall enclosing all sides, including the town side. He has a warm relationship with the merchant class and is vested in keeping trade flowing. He is friendly towards returning adventurers who, shall we say, are generous when they pay their taxes.
The town watch are paid by the Baron to whom they owe allegiance, but "rented" by the merchants.
The Green Flagon Inn: the merchant's tavern. The Drunken Cat: An better commoner's tavern. The Hero and Purse: A shabby commoner's tavern.
The country name is Croania. Chaiftfalls is located in a large western bulge of the country and has frontier to the North, West and South. The main portion of Croania is bounded on the north by Wustax (an ally at the moment), by Praoria to the south (with which they quarrel from time to time and by Vethurg to the east who mainly does not get along with anyone for very long. The only thing that generally keeps the peace is the various kings love of profit from trade. There are other kingdoms beyond these, but few know anything of them.
Croania's King is Camdyn Dalton Thorir Varma Arquitius the IV

OOC: our three players have agreed that the 3 duo's do not know each other and have to meet here in town and find out the lay of the land and go from there, from meeting each other to everything else.
Our intrepid adventurers have each come into town as hirelings, each duo with a different caravan. They all had difficult trips and were lucky to have been hired in the first place. They have all lead difficult lives being rough looking fellows at best and worse being rough around the edges when it comes to any of the social niceties and having little if any ability to read the room. While being as able as any other man, for reasons unknown to each, they just seem to rub most people the wrong way no matter what they do.
Their employers paid them their meager wages and bid them farewell. (each of you add 45 SP to your coffers.)
They have each managed to find their way to the The Hero and Purse. Each duo is looking for work and hoping they can find others like themselves to team up with.

Gareth Silverblade and Eldrian Stargazer make there way down to the Hero and Purse. Having checked the local job board, going after a troll does not look like a good option. As for hiring on with one of the other caravans, one the merchant talks to the others, that will do that in. Gareth grumbles to Eldrian, "We did everything the man asked us to, more even, yet he summarily fires us the moment we get to town." Eldrian replies, "People just don't like us, at least we got paid. Maybe we can find something and hang on until some more caravans come through or something. Let's get a drink and some cheap stew."
They enter the tavern, it looks are run down as they feel. As usual it seems everyone gives them a dirty look, so they find an empty table along the wall. Eventually a serving wench comes over and they are careful not to look at her as they place their order. Got to be careful and not get thrown out, we'll probably need to eat here for quite a while.
Since talking to people usually doesn't work too well they focus on listening to the chatter.

After collecting their pay, Bryden Stoneheart and Draven Ironfist find their way to the tavern (the Hero and Purse, empty purses more often than not). Looking around they see no welcome anywhere, but there are two men by themselves at a table by the wall being waited on by a serving wench. Bryden looks at Draven who shrugs his shoulders, so Bryden heads over to the table next to it and Draven follows. Seating themselves they give their order to the serving wench as she comes by, being careful not to give offense. Bryden thinks to himself, some men can slap a wench on the behind and get a smile and a sassy reply, but that never works for us, no, we need to just keep our heads down. Seems like those two fellows are in the same boat as ourselves.

Looking glumly around the town the two Acolytes Roland Ravenshadow and Stephen Stormwarden reflect on their lot. Unable to find anyone that will accept them as clergy they were forced to beg for work with a caravan and even that ended the moment they got here. Roland and Stephen had wondered many times if their ordination was just a cruel joke.
Listening to the those hurrying past them, they learned where the tavern for less well off was and found their way to the Hero and Purse, pausing just inside they had cause to wonder anew at the unwelcoming looks they got. Roland thought to himself, aren't we dressed the same as other men? What makes everyone look like they were chewing on green fruit? Stephen said, "Over there." At the only two tables that are not full they see four men who look as shabby and out of place as the pair feel, walking over they say, "May we join you fellows? If they get an affirmative, they will each take a seat, only one chair being available at either table.

In a moment, all six are at one table. The serving wench (good touch that) comes back with food and drink and takes two more orders. She looks less than enthusiastic, thinking she probably won't get much in tips from these.
As the men sitting listening to the gossip around them (before the last two arrived) they heard the various rumors circulating.
In a bit the serving wench comes back with that last order and waits for payment to be made.

When the serving wench comes back, mayhap she can direct us.

Roland says to the girl, "Is there a temple of the One god in this place? Stephen and I need to visit the temple (and they display their badges of the Knights of the Order of the Brothers of Perseverance). As he asks this he offers her a coin, a full SP.

The serving wench, seeing that they are acolytes and noting the unexpectedly good tip, actually smiles and "Says you are looking for he who serves the poor. Gereon, he is a true believer, a true Holy man. I am sure he can help you." And she gives you directions to the temple.

Stephen and I will inquire of this man and make a small donation, it is up to you, but if you four also make a small donation, then maybe he will direct us to people who won't try to cheat us. We will need more supplies for this journey, mainly hardtack, but a few other things as well. We will need torches too, if we buy a few maybe we can figure out how to make more of them ourselves.

Gereon sees the men coming to him from inside the door, he sees six unusually homely, shabby men, all looking downtrodden and the worse for wear; however, he perceives that these are Lawful men with no hint of Chaos and no touch of evil. He also sees hearts almost devoid of hope, even the two acolytes for such he sees they are. He looks again at their and wonders if someone has cursed them as their faces are hard to look at even for him.

Roland asks, "Are you Gereon? (receiving confirmation he continues), I am Roland and this is my fellow acolyte Stephen, and these are our companions. We would like to make a donation and also get some advice and direction from you." As they agreed they each donate 5 SP to the temple and give it over to Gereon.
"We are going to pursue the dungeon to the southwest of which you may have heard and we need to get some supplies and were hoping you could direct to us to some honest men where we could purchase those supplies."

Gereon, is quite gracious about your donation and tells you that there are many families that will say a pray for their benefactors.
I can tell you what little I have heard (and it is all rumor) of the dungeon and the situation (ie the Baron) here should you return with a good reward for your trip. What supplies are you looking for? The poorer part of the community are not able to contribute anything extra and the better off will over charge you.
Do you have a list of what you need.
