What are the archetypes for D&D? Let's look at what happens in game and then look at the specialty - class - and attribute focus (for attributes don't look at the rules, look at what the class does).
Combat Specialist - Fighting-Man - Strength, Dexterity Spell Caster - Magic-User - Intelligence Lot of Knowledge - Cleric - Wisdom - Hmm, maybe Clerics should specialize in the "thief" abilities and add Dexterity to Wisdom. If you view the Cleric as a Holy Warrior, which I argue that you should, then also add Strength too. And if Cleric are played as Holy Warriors, then you don't need Paladins.
Otherwise IMO, thieves are NPCs.
What are the others?
Wilderness Survival - Ranger - Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Wisdom Dungeon Survival - alternate Ranger - Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Wisdom
Hmm, should Rangers, be PCs or NPCs
What are some others?

Hmmm, I can't think of anything necessary that you have missed.
