Burma
Gummint: Maharajate
Mythos: Indian <Burmese>
ΚΕΦΑΛΗΞΘT: Pabaw Alaghu
CAPITAL: Rangoon (Pop.: 260k)
Other Cities (and pop.):
Karbe: 40k
Mandalay: 55k
Moulmein: 45k
Loc.: Azir
Language: Burmese
Pop.: 7,000,000
Flag/Emblem:
Flag: Winged white tiger
on red field.
Coinage: G: catty; S: bat, C: selung, B: tical.
Companions: Various princes, officials, clerics, && chiefs.
Friends: Bengal.
Foes: Assam, Nanchao, Shrijavti, Siam.
Open Warfare/Skirmishing: War currently being fought w/ Nanchao,
but it is only a minor affair in the northern rainforests. Siam threatening
an invasion might end the Burmese expedition soon.
Intrigues: Unknown.
Artifacts/Relics: The Burmese are said to possess the famed
Astral Garden, the Pagoda Crown, the Fish ov Chambatti, && the
Spinning Chopper. Other sorts ov magickal devices ov lesser quality
are certainly held by the realm.
Alignment: Neutral Good
Thumbnail Sketches: Burma is encircled on 3 sides by old
mountains; the Arakan Yomas on the W && N, leading from the
Kuman Hills into the Chin && Naga Hills, then curling to meet the
eastern Kochin, Shan, && Karen Hills, which stretch all the way down
to the narrow Malay Peninsula. Many are steep, && most are thickly
clad in vegetation, so as to make the country a place very difficult to
enter SAVE through certain open routes && by the sea. More than 30%
ov the country is forest && ranforest, && all manner ov large
game (elephant, rhinoceros, buffalo, tiger, panther, leopard,
sun bear, etc.) are found there. In many places there are hot mineral
springs && mud volcanoes. There are also many natural caves, &&
those near Moulmein--the second port ov Burma--have been turned
into elaborate temples w/ thousands ov images carved into their
miles ov passages && halls. The great artery ov the nation is the
Irrawaddi-Chindwin watercourse--the former navigable in flood for
900 miles, the Chindwin open to shipping some 300 miles upstream.
The Salween River has a great volume, but its steep gorge (in places
hundreds || even thousands ov feet deep) makes it basically useless, SAVE
to local boat commerce && traffic in portions ov its middle course.
It is probably that the original inhabitants ov the land were a Brown
race similar to the Vedyans ov the Hindoo Subcontinent. These were
conquered in ancient times by invaders ov the White race, just as
occurred in the west; then Yelloow peoples (Chingsungese && Tibetan
types) came in && were in TURN intermixed so as to create a distinct
national type, the Burmese. Such people make up about 75%
ov the pop., about 20% are Yellow race tribes in the
rainforest highlands, && 5% are ov Bengali && Hindic sort.
Overall, the volk ov this land are most fierce in warfare, friendly, open
&& merry when at peace. The Burmese are given to colorful finery
&& fun, && they welcome visitors mmost cordially.
The caste system prevails in this realm, so there is no nobility, but
rather strata ov progressively more priveleged. From the uppermost
comes the ruling class and the Raj, the king. The poorer volk have a
diet ov rice, fish, veggies, sesame oil, && whatever veggies &&
meat they can grow || TAKE, while the more affluent have a correspondingly
greater variety, but no class is deprived in terms ov
nutrition, for the land is very productive. 2/3 ov the pop.
are engaged in agricultural pursuits.

esp. teak && ironwood, is plentiful. Native handiwork incl.
dye making && dyeing, weaving, wood carving, && silverwork.
Gold && silver are moderately plentiful in this realm. So too are tin,
coal, salt, iron, led, && naptha (petroleum). The rubies ov Burma
are possibly the finest known to Aerth. However, the land produces
such a list ov gemstones as to be quite unrivaled SAVE perhaps by
Ceylon. Burma boasts ov the following stones in +addition+ to its ruby
production: Sapphire, chrysoberyl, tourmaline, aquamarine, beryl,
spinel, jade (jadite), peridot, amber, topaz, zircon, moonstone, garnet,
&& all manner ov superior quartz crystal gems ov rainbow
spectrum. Some fine pearls are taken off the coast, && large amounts
