There was an outbreak of a blood-sickness caused by evil spirits some 3 years ago, but it seems to have been conquered with the help of the local witch-doctors.

ARMIES AND ENEMIES OF AFRIBORIA. The Afriborian Campaign is situated in an imaginary world that resembles our own planet and it's history (roughly 1874-1914), but events that took place in our world might be set at different dates or in different places in the Afriborian world, thus making any resemblance between Afriboria and real history, -people, -events and -places purely a matter of imagination.

From: Epic of Aerth Addenda, by Gregg Timm. Kongo (pg. 118) This region of Afrik, ruled by a head chief (Ngurumo-Kubwa, currently) of the Bakongo Bantu tribe, is mostly rain forest and jungle, with acacia savanna to the south and highlands to the east. The legendary Mountains of the Moon with their snow-covered peaks are found in this region, some with heights of over 17,600 feet; and somewhere to the east of these in uncharted territory is said to be a massive freshwater lake (named Lake Osiris by explorers from Meroe). Forest swine, okapi, civets, squirrels, monkeys, hornbills, chimpanzees, and crocodiles are typical fauna of the forest; and insects are well represented, including the dreaded tsetse fly and driver ants. Gorillas dwell in the eastern, forested highlands. Around 50,000 pygmies of the Mbuti tribe dwell within the confines of the forests. Ebony from the diospyros trees, mahogany, teak, rubber, plantains and bananas, raffia palm fiber cloth, and ivory (said to be harvested from a hidden ‘elephant’s graveyard’ in the east) are noted exports. Small quantities of salt, copper, iron, gold, and silver are also occasionally traded. Most of the people here worship Adroa, the Creator God of the Sky.

Mokèlé-mbèmbé (meaning "one who stops the flow of rivers"[citation needed] in the Lingala language) is a legendary water-dwelling creature of Congo River basin folklore, sometimes described as a living creature, sometimes as a spirit, and loosely analogous to the Loch Ness Monster in Western culture.

Apes ( gorillas) are found in the Kongo. Although they are of Low (NOT Animal) intelligence, it does seem that certain tribes of Apes do have some kind of a primitive form of religion, where they worship "The White Goddess", who goes by the name "Jane", "Gane", "White Ghost", "White Grandmother", and, other names. These are the best translations, gleaned from conversations via the use of speak with animals magick.

Also native to Inner Aerth, the anatosaurus is known as the Mbongo Ngai to the natives whose lands overlap those of the central Kongo River Floodplain. They are also known as "gentle giants", and, they are so peaceable that parents traditionally let their children play with them!
