As you go through this you see that whatever, the initial notes that Arneson provided (would love to see those), he put a lot more work in OD&D than he is given credit for. There is a Gygax quote where Gygax says and I'm paraphrasing, he says his strength is not coming up with ideas whole cloth, but his strength is expanding on the ideas of others. These pages here make it pretty clear that the writing was not all Gygax, but a joint effort. Snail mail made the collaboration difficult. Can you imagine how fast this writing would have went if they had had email or a forum space like this where they could have been online quoting and editing and throwing out ideas in close to real time?
