It is the age of the 5th sun. The Mexica (Me-Shee-Ka) people settled and conquered the valley of Mexico. The grand city of Tenochtitlan is feared throughout the valley. The Tlaxcala Confederacy and other kingdoms and cities resist the might of the Aztecs, but for how long?

Macuahuitl is an old-school game using modified Whitebox rules to allow for gritty sword and sorcery adventuring in the age of the Aztec Empire (prior to the Spanish conquest) during the rise of the Triple City Alliance. Players will roll up characters and select a class from iconic warrior societies from within the empire. As a group, they must survive not just the human foes of the Mexica, but the supernatural forces hailing from the 13 heavens that lurk in the wilderness as well.

There has not really been a game like this since Maztica and a few other games here and there. Most of these games, in my opinion, are a bit shallow and shy away from presenting Aztec society. It is usually watered down for our modern sensibilities. For me, that means it loses its charm and magic, and intriguing nature. Authenticity in the setting and presenting it is a priority and has been my goal since I started this project almost 2 years ago.

My name is Jon Torres but many know me as "The Basic Expert" online. I am a freelance artist who has worked on a number of games (for art) which ranges from Call of Cthulhu products to Traveller and The Expanse RPG. Not only that, I have written two previous games. Cowpunchers Reloaded is a western TTRPG d6 dice pool game. Atomic Punk 2160 is a post-apocalyptic game runs on my 2d10 system. The game harkens back to BX, Whitebox, and a bit of Classic Traveller.

Risks would simply be not reaching the goal required to order the hardbacks. The book is written and I have completed all of the art for it. If the project does fail for the hardbacks, POD will still be available in the future. So will digital.

Emphasis added in bold. Yeah it is already, done and either way it will be released for POD and digital. The only question is will there be hardbacks or not.

I'm cancelling cancel culture. I have little patience for spoiled children. I've blocked so many of them in the past two days it's not even funny.
