Drool! Not participating however. May look for inexpensive copies as they hit the secondary market down the road. Already have multiples of the original along with lots of supporting materials and sadly no one who's interested in playing.

Yeah, they're mostly tainted by the whole computer game inspired "character build." Ever expanding trees of feats, skills, spells and powers. No one wants to enjoy the excitement of exploring the unknown anymore. It's ALL about getting the Boss Monster...sigh

In my 3.x and Pathfinder games I forbade the use of anything other than the core books. Some of the later prestige classes were unbelievably broken/not well play tested. As were many additional feats. For those familiar with 3.x the AEG Feats book did have some unarmored defense feats that I did like. They allowed a character to increase AC without the use of armor which better replicated my idea of a swords and sandals campaign but that was about it.

In all fairness, Swords and Wizardry is not about getting you to buy a thousand reference books or inundating you with feats and power ups. The only objection I see to their campaign is cost. I'm sure it will be a great book, but like other people, I may eschew it because of cost. At the same time, the design group are just trying to make a living. A more modest PDF will certainly come out eventually.

Especially love their adaptation of Rappan Athuk and their Monster Books are incredible. Having said that, I don't see a need (for myself at least) to invest even more in a "revision." I'll do what I always do, wait until some other investor tires of their purchase and throws it up on Ebay or sells it to the local FLGS and then I'll buy a copy used at a fraction of the KS cost. Cynical? Maybe...but then again that is how I ended up with a few thousand RPG books lol.

My biggest gripe about S&W is that, if you publish something and use it, you cannot claim compatibility unless you include the (IMO) abomination of Ascending Armor Class. They have both types of AC in S&W and force you to use both (instead of whichever one you want) to claim compatibility. That is one (but not the only one) of the reasons, I don't include S&W in the top tier of OSR products. Of all the new school mechanics, I dislike AAC the most.

I wound up NOT backing this project as well. I am curious about the changes however.
