There are so many creative people doing stuff and 100 lifetimes would not be long enough to watch it all, even if nothing new were created for years at a time.

That is what the extremely long copyright period is extinguishing or at least is making it a lot more difficult.

Star Trek has many creative fans that can do it even better.
