So going by his video of the half rations and full rations, with full rations being around 2 lbs and 3,500 to 4,000 calories, I can say that a 6'3" 240# man with an 80# pack plus weapons walking 24 miles in one day, would need more like 7,000 calories or full rations for two days for a single day.

He did discover that the rations of food for 2 lbs is dry food, apples for example are not dry food, they have a high moisture content. When active and sweating, I drink not one gallon of water, but up to two gallons of water per day. I Survived 3 Days on D&D's FOOD & Water Rules

Interesting! I'll have to check these videos out. It reminds me of being in the Army and eating MREs. If I recall correctly, an MRE is something like 3.500 - 4,000 calories for the entire bag of contents. If I'm wrong, I've been out since 2000. Out in the field you are so active that even if you do complete that MRE in one setting you don't feel bloated or heavy because you are burning calories galore. These links above should be an interesting watch.
