Has anyone here acquired/explored this unofficial offering?
The author has done a fantastic job keeping in the spirit of B/X (Moldvay/Cook/Marsh.) For me it really hits the "sweet spots" as outlined in the teaser given in the Expert Set. And even adapted some BECMI tropes such as offering experience levels up to 36 if desired.

I would love to take a look at it, but I am not in a position to do so right now. But hey, could you write a review of it?

Somehow I knew this would happen LOL. at the behest of PD Here is at least a synopsis of the B/X Companion written by Jonathan Becker and published through his Running beagle Games. Like the Moldvay/Cook/Marsh B/X this is a staple bound softcover rules expansion for those aforementioned sets. It comes in at 64 pages and uses every scrap for providing information, even the inside front and back covers. Jonathan really took to heart the teaser provided in the Expert Set rulebook for what the Companion volume would cover. This rulebook allows your characters to engage in high level play beyond 14th level.Of course Demi-Humans are level limited for purposes of balance but not left hanging. The author provided them an opportunity to improve a little slower so as to keep pace with the primary human classes.
The book follows similar layout to the first two with the expected sections of Introduction, Characters, Spells Adventure, Encounter/Combat advice including Unarmed Combat, Mass Combat, a plethora of higher level Monsters, Treasures, DMing and Special Adventure advice. In a nod to the 1E Players Handbook the last few pages introduce "The Bard" as an optional character class lol. I'm in no way an experienced reviewer so I'm certainly NOT doing this thing justice but if you have questions ask and I'll answer to the best of my ability. I will say this really worked well when I ran a B/X game a few years back (this has a publication date of 2009.) Pretty much everything I wanted in a Companion booklet without writing one myself.
