The Maldito Witness Dec. 12, 1880
Saloon Girl Found Dead Outside El Macho Inn.
Mysterious circumstances are being investigated by Sheriff Fred White as local Marshall Joseph Donald Baker calms riled passions of vigilantes in the normally quiet hamlet of El Macho. Miss Agatha Darling, a popular saloon girl of the El Macho Inn has been discovered dead in an alley behind the well known establishment.
Astonishing happenstances swirl about the young lady's demise, as her untimely passing appears to be a suicide by plunging from the rear balcony of the inn; however the deceased also bears evidence of a savage mauling. While coyotes or wolves are suspected as to scavenging upon the deceased, Maldito County Undertaker Rufus Thomas Pine has made a statement that the specifications of the corpse's desecration is inconsistent with the size and depth of what would be considered an average specimen of suspected canines.
Sheriff Fred White has been unwilling to make any commentary regarding the ongoing investigation.
