In your campaign, have your ever had a boom town spring up around a megadungeon as adventurers are constantly coming and going as it is explored? Along the lines of the cow tons in old west at the end of cattle drives or the gold (&sliver) mining towns.
I have not done this myself, but it seems like it would be a good idea and be logical if many groups were exploring it and some of them not coming back, but other coming back rich.

I haven't done this, but I can see how much fun it would be if the adventurers arrive at a dungeon and see a boom town already there. Or instead of hearing stories about the dungeons itself, they are hearing stories about the boom town and the rich flowing from the dungeon, greatly exaggerated of course.

The City of Mysantia proper is a Boom Town with a horrible famine. The boom is from the tombs that spiral down below the city.

The tombs were in a big spiral with a large opening in the middle where the water of the canals run off. In later years there was a fungus farm at the bottom.
