What do you all like / know how to cook?
I feel like I can cook anything, but I think that's because the demands made on me are pretty simple.
Lately I've been into making pasta sauces. I grew up with tomato sauce, which I have done recently, but very recently it's been olive oil, onion, garlic, jalapeno pepper with some of the seeds removed (I used to be more of a chilihead, but lately my tolerance is way down). I make whatever pasta and just dump that "sauce" onto it. I tell myself I'm eating vegetables and it tastes good.
Oatmeal, omelettes, oats with milk and whatever (lazy man's oatmeal).
I can bake some stuff but don't. I wouldn't mind doing some bread projects and freezing some.

I come from a family where all the women are fantastic cooks, but I left home having never been taught anything at all. My first job I traveled, so I ate out all the time for a year, but that got old once the novelty wore off, so I started learning to cook, self taught. I started off with bacon and eggs. Figured out I would never be able to properly flip an egg and have made scrambled eggs ever since. I love omelets but lack the eye hand coordination to pull it off. I make cornbread and I am really good at making cookies and I often tweak the recipes into new things. I make homemade ice cream and make up my own recipes.
I am good at soups and stews, mainly use the crockpots these days. I have roasted turkeys and beef roasts and stuff like that. I make a spicy chili, but I don't use a recipe and never make it the same twice. I know how to make several things that my wife made in the line of salads, a broccoli salad, an onion, tomato and cucumber one. I can make a carrot casserole, a green bean casserole and stuff like that. I do mashed potatoes with the skin on. I also am good at lasagna. My wife could do fancy stuff, those decorative trays of food at events, she could do all of that. She would make a new dish about every week and see which ones were keepers.

As a kid, I was an only child and mom did everything for me, so bad that when I was in high school my mom woke me up by putting my socks on(not a joke). I never knew what a horrible cook my mom was until I got married then my wife fed me. About 2 years in, my wife was having a tuff pregnancy so I had to learn every thing. I did a mean wok. I forgot all I had learned. Now that my wife is in a wheel chair, I am going to have to learn again. But specifically I make a fantastic beef steww / dumplings. It's a real shame wife only cooks 3=5 times a month cause she was adopting cooking and baking as hobbies.

I can cook quite a bit of stuff. Luckily, the tastes are pretty simple around here. Neither myself nor my son eat seafood (underwater bugs ) or fish. I hear it's just because I haven't found fish prepared the way I would like it. I don't know but I have tried fish a few times over the years. I never really developed a taste for any of it. I stick to stuff like hamburgers, chili, spaghetti, roast, pierogies, pasta of various sorts, etc. I've found that people particularly enjoy the fried potatoes I make. They're pretty thin and almost like potato chips. I'm mostly self-taught and I do enjoy the act of cooking.
