For all of those forum members that either currently have or have been known to rock a beard. There are many products out there, but I'm interested in opinions on three of them. I've used Beard Oil in the past and still have some left. I am on my second jar of Beard Butter, and it seems to be the product that I prefer. I also picked up a small jar of Beard Balm. I don't object to the effects of the balm, but it is somewhat of a chore to use due to the thickness. So, if there's anyone around these parts with a firm opinion on these products, I would like to hear about it. Simply put, out of the following beard products - oil, butter, and balm - which do you prefer and recommend?

Soap and the occasional brush?
Oils and butter are for taters and toast.

I don't use anything in my beard and I have had it for all but two years (a few months here and there) of the last 48 years. I just wash it and brush it now and then. These days because of the sleep apnea I were it trimmed a lot shorter than I formerly did.
Real butter on taters and toast is a favorite since childhood.

My concern with mine is that it does feel pretty rough without any sort of product in it. I'm actually kind of just letting in get longer for now because I never have done so before. Plus, 8 years in the Army really limited any sort of facial hair other than a "professional mustache".

Mine is not rough at all, except for maybe 24 hours after I trim it, but it stays soft, maybe that is my age? Plus it has been about 20 years since the last time I shaved it off. I don't remember now, but I think the longer since the last time it was shaved off the softer it gets.

But I use nothing! Wish I could help.

Relatively new goatee here...I occasionally apply Burts Beard Balm. Not sure of any actual effect but I like the aroma.

I generally am a beard supporter.
The itchy period comes and fades for all.
I'm sorry I'm not familiar with the products. I think it's an intriguing question. I think of having a beard as "easy" and so I wouldn't want to make it involve more steps. Although grooming and cultivating are a basic human function. Maybe I should consider paying more attention to my beard.
