As the referee, what is the perfect number of players around your game table? You can select one answer or you can select two answers to set the boundaries of your sweet spot.

I like a minimum of 8 to 13 and up. These days my max of good adult players would be 14, all 10-12 year olds my max would be 8. Bitd I never reached my max, but I have run 29 players.

I like between 4 and 10 players. Less than 4 players and it can be pretty bad if you do not have three outgoing people.

We used to regularly have 4 to 8 players in our old group, so I just went with that.

I like nine and up and I like an odd number of players, so they can break ties.

Varies by game system. Even different house rules, and live vs. online tables would affect my preferred number. That said I always try to have an extra person or two so I can game. I also use the house rule that if you show I run a game, (lots of weird one session only side quests).
<I've been pondering this, and I've played a few online games since I posted my response. I've decided I do have an opinion that goes for everything, the below comments reflect that.>
Edit; my perfect number would be four to six.
