The only game fiction I really have any experience with are the Dragonlance novels. I've read about 15 of them. My biggest takeaway from reading them is that sticking with the Weis & Hickman novels and the Knaak novels will generally serve you well.
I amend my previous statement a little. I have read a Warhammer Fantasy short story collection. I enjoyed it for their take on fantasy. It's got a little bit more character & flavor than standard generic fantasy. I found a stack of 25 or more of them at a garage sale. I need to get around to reading some more.
What have you read? What do you recommend?

I just noticed that myself. One goal achieved and one left to go.
