Just like the title says, what board games do you recommend?
I would prefer something that mirrors the "typical interests" of this forum BUT I would also like to hear about anything you consider fun and enjoy playing when you get the chance. Basically, whatever board games you like is what I want to hear about. Maybe I've missed something I would like or someone else here might be interested. What do you have to suggest?

My first recommendation is 5 Minute Dungeon. Technically, a card game but it was on the board game aisle at Wal-Mart. My teenage son enjoys playing it with me. It's quick and easy to learn and play; see the video below. I haven't had any luck picking up the expansion, but I might just have to order it online. The gameplay could probably be adapted for more serious and detailed play pretty easy. I've thought about it but I've never done it. There's a recommendation from me. I see games like Splendor, Settlers of Catan, and others on the shelves. Anyone play them?

Talisman if you can afford the buy in. Basically the board and cards are the dungeon master and adventure. Any of the Pandemic cooperative games are fun too. Especially original Pandemic and Call of Cthulhu versions.

I think Talisman would be fun from the "how to play" videos on youtube. Plus, there are something like 15 expansions so additional content is always great. I've had Pandemic in my hands several times as well. I have to get it now with a CoC version. Thanks for the suggestions.

Darned game does it's best to defeat the players and makes you want to try even harder LOL.

Wotc has some $60 board games that mimics D&D. There is a smaller game co. that Are VERY close to being an RPG Clone!, Very Expensive buy in.
But my best recomendations are the Black Death(you play a disease, who ever kill 20 million wins) And Intruder a solo game of the movie Alien, great solo fun

I love board and card games so here goes:
-Bohnanza: great little clever card game plays best with 4 to 5. Theme might sound banal: trading, planting and selling beans but it is very clever and engaging.
-Mysterium: cooperative deduction game; one player is a ghost and the other players are medium. The ghost must lead the mediums to the solution of it's murder by giving them visions (cards with surreal dream illustrations) and the ghost cannot speak. Very fun.
-Blitzbowl: a simplified smaller version of bloodbowl; Fantasy Football rugby
-Battletech; recently I got sucked in this miniature wargame boardgame again, Barnes and Nobles even has the starter sets for this
-Dungeon Quest: this boardgame is closest to od&d in my opinion. It's a dungeon crawl where your character has to go into a dungeon and get out with treasure before the dragon wakes up, surviving dungeoneer with the most treasure wins, it's not uncommon for no one to come out alive.
-Ticket to Ride: Nice family game
-Cartography: quick little game of drawing maps
