tetramorph I was part of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary, an Italian congregation formed during the suppression of the Jesuits in the 1800s. Ignatian religious, active-contemplative. It's a pretty small group, particularly in the US. Nice guys. It was a good time.

What a small world. For many years I lived quite close to Hawaiian Gardens in California, where there was an OMV-staffed parish church. I had no idea about their history and vocation, that's very interesting. It's unfortunate that my familiarity with religious orders stops pretty abruptly by the 16th century.

I am not RC myself, so my knowledge is ecumenical and historical in nature.
I was not familiar with that order, so it is fun to learn something new.
Thanks for being willing to share!

There are a thousand smallish congregations of priests and brothers (even more of women religious), some of which have died out even as new ones start and flourish. I hope no one finds this sacrilegious, but I often use them as inspiration for weird guilds and factions in my Lost Continent campaign. All those funny habits and names! heehee

We are twins (Timothy and Thomas) and we share the log in. Our Mama nicknamed us Samson and Solomon before we could walk or talk. Nice! Relevant to your real world circumstances and the avatar is great!!

I have two hobbies, rpgs and music. I like to make noise and slowed-down house, electronica. I just added some fantasy flavour.

What a great thread! My screen name uses Mighty to mean both possessing great and impressive power or strength and to mean extremely. Darci is my real first name and I am extremely Darci, i.e. extremely me.

My screen name is that of a real life person that I ran into in the course of my job and I liked its weirdness and total real world inappropriateness and that is why I picked it.

I play and teach saxophone for a living, and Dizzy Gillespie was one of my favorite jazz musicians.

I am a retired old hacker from back in the day, I've used this handle for years. It used to be just Ripper X, but other folks started using the nick so I had to modify it. It was a friend who dubbed me Ripper, an Aussie who thought that I was funny, others started calling me that too so I took the nick. It went back to a previous nick that I had used.
The X is a reference to Charles Manson, I was a bit of an extremist, I've since been somewhat civilized by age & marriage but she is kind of spooky too so we are a good fit. Xed out of Society, underground, counter-culture, all that jazz.
The 187 is police code for murder. I tack it on there so that I can tag my work and be found by former brothers and sisters of the network. We don't talk much, but we do keep tabs on what everyone is doing. Networks are strange things, we formed to FIGHT THE MAN! but in the process, we became closer and closer. We were the hippies of our generation I guess. They think that it is funny that someone who was so angry and foul-mouthed as I was is now spending their time gardening and talking about D&D. Well, they are right. That is pretty funny

Naw my user name is Stoneback123 but my real name is clearly visible atop my home page. If you're going to use realistic names such as "Scott," then delusional people like myself will never comprehend something or other. My world is ambiguous but amusing. Which is why my grandkids make all my major decisions, such as whether to sign "Grandpa_Chet" (pretty much my real name) or "MormonYoYoMan" (the nickname my youngest daughter gave me decades ago).

When I was a lad, my dad, brother & I joined the Y Indian Guides, which was a YMCA-sponsored, Indian-themed father-son recreational organization. Members had to take on an "Indian name". Dad called me Bravewolf.
Fast forward to 1999 & my first professional gig as an archaeologist in the States. I took a break from the day job and went off to a month-long field school. When I came back, some of my workmates had a banner waiting in the office that said, "Welcome back, Bravewolf" (as archaeologists & ethnographers working out west, we deal with Indians - both living & dead - a fair piece). I didn't even remember telling them about the "White Indian Guys". The moniker has stuck.
