I run a completely closed world. You just can't accept some of the stuff other people put in their campaigns.

I prefer a closed world because I don't want any of the "Oh, that was okay in my other game nonsense" coming into my game. We all know what I'm talking about.  |

I have never thought about this, I would default to the 1st option, but will get grief about it for sure. But if you think about it, it really does make no logical sense to port characters from game to game.
