What would the perfect OSR emulation consist of/be based on? (sometimes called clones or retro-clones) You may select up to two choices. What would be your dream D&D OSR emulation in a single ruleset?

I chose OD&D and Other. I would start with OD&D and then steal from everywhere, including Arduin and Warlock.

I went with the first one and everything pre-1977 as a resource.

Of the things already written, what comes closest to a perfect emulation?

Of the things already written, what comes closest to a perfect emulation? Good question, what is the best thing out there?

I went with the first one and everything pre-1977 as a resource. This is what I would go with, steal from anything old school that you want to steal from.

Use everything pre 1977 as a source, but primarily OD&D.

Again, not sure what the OSR is, but I already have OD&D, Chainmail, the Supplements and Arduin. Not sure why I would need anything else.

I voted other, we have OD&D and our own resources, we don't need anything from the OSR.

I voted for one and five. However, I would say that the OSR means nothing to me. Something calling itself OSR is no guarantee that it is old school or compatible with old school or even that it meets even basic quality standards.

I voted OD&D (3 books) + other. But the other can and should be whatever you want: homebrew, reduction of the 3 LBBs, own magic system grafted in, whatever.

Here is what would be perfect, give me a word document of the complete text of the 4th print of OD&D, so that I can edit it with a combination of deleted, altered and added text and images into my personal version of D&D. At this point in time that is what WotC should do. No OGL needed.

I think if someone has access to the complete text of the 4th print of OD&D and puts it into word or one of the word clones that would awesome.
