Tolkien had many works beyond LOTR, The Hobbit, & The Silmarillion. Some of these were related to Middle Earth while others were not. Have you read any of these works? If so, what did you think?

I had no idea that this was the case, but as I don't care for Lotr, it doesn't surprise though

I haven't read anything beyond those three. Not completely sure why, but I just have not been that interested or maybe too many options and too little time.

I have read none of the stuff edited / finished by Christopher in the last 20 years. However I have read many selections from the History of Middle Earth set which came out in the 80s and 90s. It is tons of Tolkien, edited lightly for readability. Nothing in there can be held against the author, because he published none of it. But there is a lot of good stuff in there. If you want windows into the creative process, that seriea is gold. If you want finished adventures, skip it.

Also was at leaat friendly with Charles Williams who wrote some really strange stuff, I have read only one novel of his, Descent into Hell. Brilliant stuff in there in places, but not what you would expect from fantasy.
