Newson replaces the glass item in the corner. He straightens up with Tetyana, leaving you two to work things out on the floor.
He seems to have a good rapport with Tetyana, despite the difficulties with understanding. He begins showing her something on the tapestry, pantomiming an explanation with his face and his free hand.

So in context you understand that he is probably interpreting for you and requesting your knife. Newson demonstrates "sheathing" the knife, then pinches the blade between his thumb and forefinger and hands it to Joshua hilt-first, trying to look stern. |

A man walks in.
He looks to be at the peak of his powers, moving easily and without the pride or awkwardness of some nobles you have known. His garb is somewhat hard to identify--that of a noble, certainly, but not any noble any of you gathered there on the floor ever saw. His cloak looks to be made of a tightly crocheted, fine purple wool. His boots are of a rich and lively black leather. His green tunic is cinched, like Newson's, with a bit of rope. His cap looks to be of multicolored felt adorned with a long feather, almost comical, but not at all comical. His face looks alert but expressionless as he enters the chamber, paying no attention to the little people and heading for the head of the body laid out there, removing his cap.
"Father!" Newson cries, rising to his feet at the sight of this much younger man.

Paying no attention to anyone, save the barest of nods for Newson, the nobleman approaches the body. From where you are, you cannot see exactly what happens.
A dozen courtly figures appear, semi-transparent, bearing arms, about the sides of the room. You hear their voices speaking in unison.
Newsom backs away from the side of the room, approaching the central area where you four tiny figures stand.
Something happens.
It appears that the sides and ceiling of the chamber slide apart and open up, revealing a green countryside under a bright but cold sun. The lights on the walls fade to nothing in the light. The figures' voices grow louder and you hear another voice join them. Newson looks just as irrelevant as you feel at this moment, standing in a half-crouch above you.
You feel that the floor you are on must be rising into the air. The voices stop. The twelve figures and their leader, suddenly mounted, ride away into the distance. You see that a young woman, very lightly clothed, rides behind the leader, but you cannot see her face.
The vision (?) fades and you are back in the room, which is unchanged, although you half-notice that the lights return to their full brightness from almost nothing. Newsom exhales, and approached where the body lay when you entered the room. "Ah, hm," he says. "Ah, well." It looks like he picks something up.

"Finny, Tetanya....do you guys know what just happened?".
"Joshua, how about you. Do you have any ideas?
"I think they may have escorted his mom to the afterlife but that's just a guess.". I shrug my shoulders.
"Newson, what just happened? Did they take your mother to the afterlife? Who were those people? What is that thing?".
I stand there after rapidly asking these questions in hopes that I will get an answer...

Newson bends down without a word and extends one hand for you to crawl onto. He looks somewhat deflated, but also relieved.
[Again, I assume you climb aboard.]
He grunts as he striaghtens up. You look down and see that the body is quite gone. "This is all that is left, I suppose," he says mildly, showing you the metal object in his left hand. You recognize it as the fused rings that Alla used somehow when you were underground with her, but they now look worn with time. "They took her with them. What that means, really, I do not know. She and I are the only ones like ourselves around here."

They look like the ones Alla had! I would swear by it. She saved our lives by using those rings. You don't happen to know anything about them?".

Joshua is going very very slowly toward the ship and very reluctantly climbs aboard,last one on an even then hestites but does get on board.....
In French creole he asksWho is President of the United States ?,right now? he continues in,Mandern and English, The English is french accented
