I'm always on the lookout for a bargain when it comes to miniature supplies and tools even if it's in unexpected places. I was on a Harbor Freight run this morning for some batteries and some other small items, but I decided to browse the store after finding everything I came in for. This helped me find the following items and they had a great price on them. The first item I decided to buy was a pair of the Micro Flush Cutters for only $3.99. Maybe if you do a ton of miniatures that must be cut off the sprue and assembled before painting you might need some really fancy ones, but I don't see the need to pay for the company branded versions at $29.99 and more. I still have the pair included with the Citadel paints but it's always good to have a backup. The next item I decided to buy was a Helping Hands stationary magnifier with gripping arms attached for only $5.99. This will be a great help in seeing what I'm painting and not trying to juggle a miniature, brush, and magnifying glass at the same time. It's certainly smaller than some of the others I've found but the bigger glass is really just a luxury plus none of the others have the arms with the grips. The last item I decided to buy was a Magnifier Head Strap With Lights at only $4.97. The other versions I've found are listed at a range of $30-$120 so I've never even thought about picking one up. Even if it's not to my liking, at less than $5 it was worth the risk. I'll be trying these items out in the coming weeks and giving feedback after using each one of them. There's even an airbrush in there for only $29.99 that does have my curiosity up but who knows?

I'm setting up to try out the Helping Hands sometime soon. This looks like it's going to change the way I paint in a positive manner. This will make painting so much easier!

I am not inclined to such stuff, but I do wonder what would happen if I were left alone for a couple days with fifty dollars and a store that sells acrylic paints and metal fasteners...

I was buying a rake earlier at Harbor Freight and I went on my usual walk about in the store. I stumbled upon their Hobby Knife with Five Fine Point Blades for only $5.99 so I bought one for scraping off the flash on metal miniatures or making other fine cuts. Sure, you can buy an Exacto knife for maybe a little bit cheaper, but this handle is a little bigger and looks like it will be more comfortable to grip. A similar product is offered by The Army Painter for $9.99. I do own that one also. It will be interesting to see which one works better for me. I don't own the one offered by The Citadel (Games Workshop) but at a listed price of $31.99 then it had better fly around and do the work when I whistle like that thing Yondu uses in Guardians of the Galaxy.
