I'm getting ready to paint up some Kobold miniatures, so I googled some images of painted miniatures. The results showed two color schemes (reddish/brown and green) as the most prominent with another (brown) coming in third. Just out of curiosity, what do you do in your campaign? Feel free to explain in the comments below.

I chose red or a mix of red/brown. I saw a lot of green kobolds, but I always envisioned green as the color of orcs. Is this wrong?

I have no idea, but I say go for it.
Personally I'd make orcs the same color as local humans, or a mix of human shades, and have the kobolds be red with green specks. Okay, or just red.

Kobalds frustrate me. I love the idea that they are a real threat way above their hit dice due to ambushes and traps but I was never able to make it work,in fact I didn't even give it a try.
