For those interested in comic books and unusual things. And who like to read funny, engaging stuff. The DC super-group "The Legion of Super-Heroes" got going in the 1960s. Once it became a regular feature, the artist John Forte handled it for several years. These five blog posts by Colin Smith address different aspects of Forte's work. Sometimes at first it sounds like he's blasting the art, but that's not the point at all. This is a celebration of unusual qualities of the art that, Smith argues, contributed to the appeal of the stories. I'm not going to try to summarize these points. If you like comic books and you like thoughtful takes on stuff...give these posts a shot. The tiny images for reference are all (I think) links to big versions of the same panels. I enjoyed this more than anything I've read in a good while. Sample of art below. I'm not saying much here, but I would love to talk about this. Part 1. Part 2. Part 3. Part 4. Part 5.

Read the first link. I like his art just fine. Odd he did and does not get any respect.

Read the first link. I like his art just fine. Odd he did and does not get any respect. He does not slag on the artist overall. Not sure how the first link makes it look. I have been reading the stories and love the artist.
