I know some people don't have confidence in drawing maps or feel that they don't have enough time in some cases. I remember stumbling across maps to several of the old Zork computer games one time while I was surfing the web. You basically just draw a flowchart leading from one area/room to the next. A solid line between each area represents the route while maybe a dotted line could represent a route hidden by a secret door. There's no need to worry about the picture matching the details; you can save details for the notes. Here's an example.

Awesome idea, and I bet pretty easily tweaked to hold all the info you're actually going to need.

I just meant like a simple key tailored to exactly your needs for that map. Jagged line is stairway, unbroken line is this kind of tunnel, etc...

These are pretty much pointcrawl maps. They have a charm, but I hate how it makes everything this direction of that and mapping doesn't give clues about hidden areas or alternate ways around if you want to go through walls or some such. That said... check out this pointcrawl generator.
