I'm still developing deities (and their lack of involvement) in The Lost Lands.

Mostly Germanic and Norse for me, primarily because of upbringing. I appreciate a lot of other mythologies intellectually, but not viscerally the way I do with those two.
Oh, and one not on the list - Clark Ashton Smith, both Averoigne and Zothique.

I picked Norse, Celtic, Japanese, Greek and Cthulhu Mythos. I also could've picked Egyptian, Germanic, Chinese, Arthurian, and Judeo-Christian. I should note that not all of these faiths would produce Holy Warriors/Clerics or whatever. Some just have Priests.
Northwind is a world of many faiths, which may cause strife as the world grows.

I feel torn here because those mythoi that are most present now for mining also seem to be the most "grandfathered in" to our culture. In a way, their largeness makes them too familiar or too possibly familiar to be really Unknown. I like the idea of getting into the broken-down culture of a 100-year old Tory in 1800...where had his gods and demons gotten to? Did he feel trapped behind enemy lines forever? Was his heart full of pain? For whom, exactly? I always feel wistful for those gods that are gone without a trace...of course, there's no source material for them. But I find myself trying to follow after them in thought and remake the world they lived in.

Of the options you listed: Norse (for the shape of the world and the sparse, economical elegance of the sagas more than for specifics of gods and adventures), Lovecraft and Moorcock.
I am also heavily influenced by Catholicism, particularly the medieval ars moriendi and dualistic heresies, and by the vision of William Blake (as expressed in creations like Urizen and Los and Orc - figures which stand for some aspect of the human soul writ large).

So I voted "other", and hope that fit best. I use Arneson's First Fantasy Campaign Mythos framework - which is Dark Lords of Chaos vs Greater Gods of Good - much the same as M. A. R. Barkers system, but less specific when it comes to the individual deities. Most of the gods remain unnamed/mysterious, and most clerics follow the collective gods of their alignment rather than being devoted to a specific deity. Likewise, the gods themselves don't usually have specific spheres like "war" or "childbirth" or whatever. They're just gods. The most common chaotic religion is the cult of the Id.

I am inspired by Sumerian/Babylonian pantheons as I studied it over the last few years & the Chthulhu Mythos as I love the feel of the Great Old Ones vibe. I really love the Greyhawk Flanaess Pantheon, which is part of the reason I like Greyhawk. But ultimately I love crafting my own pantheons drawing inspiration from what I learned of ancient religion & pantheons.
In my fused Flanaess/Blackmoor & Faerun/Known World setting I'll draw from the core 1e pantheons of FR & GH, plus the 3.5 Blackmoor pantheon. But for my Grim Dark home brew the Law vs. Chaos plus Neutrality will play the core paradigm in my design for the religion & the Cthulhu Mythoswill inspire aspects of the Chaos deities.

I voted for my own unique original home-brewed game. I may post about it one of these days. I call my campaign The Varzakarian Mountains Campaign.
