OD&D Primer

Here is something that I was sent. A fellow who goes by Wanderer wrote:

OK, here is my bump day post. I am bumping this because I thought it should have had some discussion and comments. I added links to the two source documents.

If we were going to create our own OD&D Primer, how would it differ from this one? What would we add, if anything, or what would we give different advice for?

He says 

HOBBITS: Hobbit PCs are Fighting Men, limited to 4th level (Hero). Their "deadly
accuracy with missiles" is translated from Chainmail as a +1 to hit with slings.

IMO that is too small of a bonus to equate to "deadly accuracy with missiles." IMO a +2 or even a +3 would not be out of line. Also he does not note that his +1 to hit with slings is a house rule, if I remember correctly.

I agree with you here, the amount of the bonus is not spelled out in terms of the "alternate" combat rules, so any bonus you give is a house rule and I agree with you on the proper amount of the bonus.
