Lots of fantasy movies have bits and pieces that aren't explained, seem to be there just for flavor, but that stick with you. On this thread, choose one and expand on it. In context, out of context (or in your own context). Example: Caked Mud Falls Off the Glaive ( Krull, 1983) This stuck with me for my whole life. Clearly the scene around it worked for me although I was really little. I remember asking about this movie for at least a couple years and thinking about it ever after. No idea why, I guess I thought it was cool. The beauty of it was never tainted by rewatching, I assume because my dad didn't feel like seieng the movie again. So, expansion below after image. In this setting, earth is magically "programmed" to give birth to metal instruments according to the imagination of the "programmer." Ores are unknown. There is only earth and the metals (or alloys, as we call them, which are called melds in this setting) that comes from it. Naturally, there is a lot of wild earth around under no one's control, so it could do just about anything.
Note for designer: we suggest that you take a bit of time to consider what this world would look like and how this world-feature could affect things from the ground up.
