How do you run this in your campaign? How do your Holy Swords Function? Are they only usable by Paladins? Do they function for any Lawful Fighting-Man? If so, to what extent?

This is an intriguing topic. I've never limited the use of Holy Swords to just Paladins BUT I think it makes great sense. I'm interested in hearing what others have done.

Never done anything with Holy Swords, but I like this idea.
A tiny twist might be to limit them to Paladins AND others with a blessing to use them. Perhaps an ill Palaidn could authorize the use of the sword by green knight, for instance.

To answer this for the way I do it, Holy Swords may (or may not) be usable by any Lawful Fighting-Man. It is up to the sword, it takes into account the history of the Fighting Man, his consistency at Lawful behavior and all facets of his character. If it will function for a Lawful Fighting-Man, it is only at a 1 H, +1 D and it may communicate with him, but it would be highly unusual for any of its other abilities to function. It would most certainly seek to place a Geas on him to take it to a Paladin. However, of those Lawful Fighting-Men, of the highest character, it may call him to become a Paladin.

I think I will steal borrow this.
