What's your relationship with daydreams like?
Do you remember recurring daydreams from past eras of your life as well as you remember some things that actually happened?
I won't prime this thread too much, apart from the poll, but there's lots we / I could add later.

I won't prime this thread too much, apart from the poll, but there's lots we / I could add later. I picked all of the choices except the first two. The third one replace like with love. There has never been a point in memory where I did not daydream. As a child I rode the school bus for 90 minutes twice a day and anytime I was left alone, I was staring out the window at the landscape passing by, but my mind was worlds away. I remember a lot of them and I do build very complicated and complex ones even now. When I spent whole days, mowing and raking hay in the summer time I would day dream the entire time, only interrupted when I needed to give my full attention to what I was doing. When I traveled on my one job, I could drive for hours and it passed like minutes for me. I am good at sitting in a waiting room, because my mind is fully occupied and time passes quickly, I am incapable of being bored. Oh and you can strike the world embarrassment from that last one for me.

I have had to say that several times in my adult life to explain why something isn't a problem for me. I can't imagine how I would suffer if I were bored all the time. I don't need a phone or a book or anyone to talk to. The closest I can imagine coming to boredom is when I have to attend actively to some nonsense enough (like in a meeting) to survive, and it prevents me from daydreaming properly. But...that is more like just unpleasantness forced on me, not really boredom as I understand it.

That is not really boredom, because I cannot help having side thoughts about why this person or these people are wasting everyone's time with this nonsense and what might be the true motivation behind it.

I seem to daydream a lot these days, seems like we all want an escape from today's world.

I've learned recently that you can actually take a rest from daydreams. Who knew?
And they're even better once you rest the mechanism a little. Or so it seems to me...

I cannot remember, ever having a day that I did not daydream at least a little bit. I don't think I have ever taken a break, it is just part of me.

I daydream a lot, too often in class.

Daydreaming is a refuge from the world. I was helping my grandpa dig a shallow ditch around the edge of his garden and you can get in a rhythm and daydream while you do physical labor, it makes it go really fast.

I cannot imagine someone that does not daydream.

I would question the humanity of anyone who claims they never daydream.

I have always daydreamed extensively, especially anytime I am on a plane or other public conveyance.

I think everyone daydreams to a greater or greater extent.

I daydream a lot, it is my way of coping with life.

I daydream a lot, it is my way of coping with life. I agree with you on this. Often it is the only way.

My life has been way too busy to daydream a lot, but I tend to daydream doing repetitive work. Like chopping wood for instance.

I find in retirement, I have time to daydream for the first time since I was a kid. I agree about chopping wood, you can get in a zone on automatic pilot for hours.

Daydreams are when you mind takes a mini-vacation. I wonder if more friends would result in less daydreaming.

If you are not daydreaming at all, then you are taking life way too seriously.
