I've been dickering about with the B2 this morning; I am trying to stoke a fire under my butt to do...something!
To make a long story short, I decided to count squares in the Wilderness Map. By my figures, there are 52 N to S and 40 E to W. At 100 yards per square (or, 300 Ft. for all us non-metric fans!), this comes to roughly 15,600' x 12,000'; or 2.9545 x 2.2727 miles. Making this whole area small enough to fit inside one (standard?) 6-mile hex. Which I find...interesting.
This led me to do some heavy-duty contemplation, and I decided upon this:
1. The monsters gathered in the COC have been assembled to launch an all-out attack on the Keep; they cannot have been there too long, for the food supply from surrounding animal populations would have been exhausted quickly, and supply trains to the keep would be far between and not likely porting enough to sustain such huge numbers. *
2. The caves' denizens are likely approaching the end of their patience; being sequestered in such a small area as such. I would think some are about ready to desert the cause; considering they are not likely to gain much in the end, anyway, since the commanding forces recruited the creatures as combat troops, and consider them expendable.
3. Sinister forces within the keep itself are surely acting in co-ordination with whoever is controlling the beasts in the COC.
* A side point to this is the bandit-raiders that likely ambush the supply trains themselves; thus robbing the COC residents of possible supplies.
All in all, this is, as an adventure, a terrible situation for a small band of characters to get involved in. Which is why it works (and doesn't) on so many levels.

Yes, absolutely!
It is a pre-wilderness grid crawl. I like it and I don't. Part of me wants to hurry up and shove them out into the wilderness proper!

I use this in my BFRPG game based in the Wilderlands of High Fantasy. Just one hex south of Lightelf. Works wonderfully.

I need o run this. Soon.
