I don't rely heavily on miniatures in my game play, but I do like painting them and having them on hand for reference. For instance, placing the player character miniatures in marching order on the table or just to represent their position in a room or combat. If you are looking for some Dragon miniatures and you're not in the mood to paint and/or assemble them, you might want to look at Hobby Lobby. I was buying some new brushes and I stumbled across these 3 Dragons on the next aisle. Maybe someone else will find these handy. Steel DragonRed DragonBrown & Green Earth DragonIn addition, they have these packs of smaller dragons. DragonsDragons Value Pack
Finally, there is a tube of Knights and Dragons also. The Dragons are small, but you could get started on an army of knights. Knights & Dragons ToobDo you have any sources for cool gaming stuff?

I wish I could remember a school diorama project that had room for Steel Dragon!
I don't have a great source to name, but I keep wanting to make a jewelry project for kids out of bolts and washers from the hardware store and I like to imagine that such things could easily be used as counters, minis, landscape features...

When I was serving in the Army stationed at Ft. Hood, we were on a field exercise. The Colonel was coming out to visit the various units. Most of the commanders had maps set up in their command tent. The Colonel would come by and get briefed on their mission and the map would be used. Our Captain had us set up an actual sand table for our floating bridge site. The Captain drove back to base to pick up some toy trucks to represent our 5-Ton trucks and he also picked up a bag of those plastic dinosaurs and put the one that most resembled the Loch Ness Monster in the water on the sand table. I'm not sure if the Colonel was impressed but he never said anything disapproving. Who knows? That's a great idea to use the bolts and washers like that.

True Black Raven the price is what stuck out to me the most. I can buy an unpainted mini for around the same price and I still have to go through the time and effort to paint it. These look pretty decent so you could just plop them on the table and go.

How many miniatures threads do we have? Should we start a sub-forum for them?

Created and moved, what do you think. Does the title of the board need tweaked?

Vladimir, The Dark Prince, great idea to create a miniature sub-forum! I like the title of the forum. hengest thanks for taking care of the encouragement while I was recovering from Monday work butt-whipping.

If someone wanted to make a special sky-dome to demonstrate what the sky in their setting looks like, seems like it would fit under "props" well enough. Hmm...that's a fun idea...I think I'll do that with all my free time.
